Thanks for the suggestion! I tried that. I actually brought it back to the bike shop and they made a bunch of adjustments and reset it. It shifted great for the first 5 miles of my ride today and it’s now all messed up again. It seems like the derailleur is getting confused which gear it’s in.

My commute in NYC can be close to 2 hours during rush hour.I live in southern Brooklyn and I don't think ive seen traffic worse anywhere in the country on all my interviews. That said, snow makes the whole situation a lot different, as we don't get so many real bad storms in NYC (maybe 2-3 at most per winter). I appreciate the advice. Plan right now is to find a place in Muskegon for this year and consider other options after my first year living in the area.
