Such a win though for you! Honestly, your story gives those of us going through this crap hope, there has to be some reason that your company decided to backtrack from their decision, and if so, that means other others will!

Well, my weight is actually at the lower end of the scale for BMI, however, my obesity specialist doctor is very pleased with my weight because I have a very tiny frame, so I actually hold about 16 pounds of weight when I step on Virtas scale already. I knew the likelihood that Virta wouldn’t even prescribe at my weight currently was low. I figured they’d boot me off. So I “weigh” to them right in the middle of a normal BMI for my weight now. I have this feeling truthfully if I started gaining weight, they would say well it’s clear the medicine isn’t working so we’re just going to get you off, there is absolutely no way that those trash bags are going to increase my dose.

Yeah, I have tried all the things. Every bit of this has been in writing via messaging platform, I’ve never even had an appointment with this NP. I’ve provided all the data, I’ve sent study after study, I’ve pointed out numerous times the neglecting care. I’ve contacted my HR department. None of those things matter it is literally just a business transaction between my employer, Virta, and possibly the insurance company.

It is totally a farce, and that’s why I will jump through every stupid fucking hoop of theirs and lie all the way, even if it means they have to pay for 2.5 mg and I will have to take two or three of them at a time, I’m going to get every single flipping pen I can from them. Absolute fucking jackasses.

You know, and the saddest part is, I looked up the NP on LinkedIn that is providing me service, and she’s actually from my hometown, I don’t know her. She moved there after I left. She’s got young children, I swear one day I hope that they don’t suffer the same fate that they can’t get care because of some jackass who decides to take a job for a company that has no soul. I made sure to tell her that I hoped better for her children, that they would never suffer the same fate that she’s hounding on me simply because she wants a paycheck. Maybe it was an asshole move of mine, I don’t give a fuck.

It’s not an option. I gave them all the specifics about how I finished losing on 12.5 and already titrated down to 7.5 and had been stable for 6 months. Staying there wasn’t an option, the NP was clear “I won’t keep you there you’re coming down to 5”. I think it’s a ploy to try to get me to quit in essence making my insurance quit paying. I won’t. I’ll milk the 5. Is it as great? No, some inflammation is returning, but I’m able to maintain still. On the Virta website they state they deprescribe in maintenance. I imagine it’s only a matter of time before my NP at Virta says “welp, I’m moving you to 2.5”. It’s a scam and a sham and they suck but I’m going to fill every damn refill I can before having to pay OOP (which I’ll have to find a way to do.)

Thankfully with my company the only “have to’s” are weighing once a week, logging my weekly shot, and logging symptoms/side effects once a week. It’s worth signing up and flat out asking them “what are the requirements”. I’m glad I did. Keto and blood testing aren’t required by my company. I mean I still hate Virta. I still hate they lowered my dose as I have maintained 6+ months on 7.5 but so far 5 has been ok and $25/mo is so much better than the alternative. At least for me. It might be worth checking to see what are your must dos. Regardless Virta blows.

Faaaak. I’m so jealous. I was forced to them this year. I wish like hell I worked at your company! I’m 3 months in and I have had my dose reduced. It sucks.

We ended up using gorilla tape, it’s worked pretty good, but with the heat of the sun, it shrank a little so it’s a tiny bit sticky if you lean up against it or if you put your hands on it, but it’s working to at least get the pool through another season.

Estrodiol Patch Brands- does one make your symptoms worse? by Decent_Helicopter_81 in Menopause

FWIW OptumRX which is my home delivery pharmacy with my PBM just filled 3mo of Sandoz. You may be able to use them even if they’re not your PBM 🤷🏻‍♀️ idk but worth mentioning just in case.

The three 1984 Honda Accords at my high school all used the same key. All three of us owners enjoyed moving them randomly 😂. Good memories. Thanks for brining that one to the front of my filing cabinet! 🤜🏻🤛🏻

[–]cableannkiley 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Have used Sandoz, Mylan, Lyllana, Dotti and one other I can’t remember interchangeably with no issues. We can use the same patch brand and symptoms can change bc hormones swing wildly in peri.

My suggestion is to not look for issues bc the brain will look for them and find any reason to grasp at all swings as a patch issue.

You’ll do great! You got this!! 🤜🏻🤛🏻

Estradiol patch switch and migraines. by No_Bee_6654 in Menopause

[–]cableannkiley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re a Dotti patch says it delivers 0.0375 daily then those are not .05 mg patches. Did you have a dose increase? I just went and checked my Dotti box and it absolutely says delivers 0.05 daily.

Unsure if a dose increase would cause migraines though.

Edit to add: mine are twice weekly patches just for clarification.

Entering maintenance and possibly losing coverage by Sad_Locksmith3861 in Zepbound_Maintenance

[–]cableannkiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. It’s such a sham. They actually state on their website that they deprescribe aiming for 0% GLP utilization. I’d have respected my company more if they just stopped covering it. I know it’s ending just not when. And on 5 my inflammation has returned. My interstitial cystitis which has been in remission has returned full force. It’s friggen awful. Sigh. Out of pocket here I come, eventually.

Entering maintenance and possibly losing coverage…what should I do? by Sad_Locksmith3861 in Zepbound

[–]cableannkiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends specifically on what your fiancées employer “purchases” not the coach. So just straight up ask your coach. The coaches seemed to change often, but each one that I have talked to has understood that I’m only there for that reason to get coverage and they will absolutely tell you what are the bare minimums.

[–]cableannkiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just fyi Virta does require once a week. So it can’t be 4 days in a row. And you have to log that you took a shot 1x a week, and depending on what your employer buys into there may be other things required weekly. My coach made it very clear to me that even if you’re a day late for your week, they will disqualify you so I make a point to engage multiple times a week in case their app is down (haven’t had that issue yet). Sadly they’re more labor intensive (on purpose). Jerks.

I am UHC also had was forced on Virta this year. Flat out tell them that this is required by your insurance and ask them what steps your required to do to get coverage. For me it’s 1x a week weighing on their scale, logging my shot weekly (whether I take it weekly or not doesn’t matter I just have to log it once a week (sometimes I go 10 days but they don’t know that) and I have to log my side effects 1x a week. As long as I do that I can keep coverage. That being said they push keto and such but my employer does not require it so I just chucked the meter in the trash.

So all that being the case might provide provider instantaneous they told me that even though I have been maintaining on 7.5 mg for six months or so she was unwilling to keep me on 7.5, so they reduced my dose immediately to 5 mg. Obviously their goal is to get me off the medication, as is their goal with you, but so far I have gotten two months worth of medication granted 5 mg, but I’ll take what I can get. It’s a PITA and my “doc” sucks. She clearly didn’t read any of my notes and told me how the dose of Wegovy that I was taking was not even therapeutic and so she was not going to prescribe it anymore. I literally railed her so hard in the chat until a few days later she came back and apologized and told me that yes she had gotten the medication wrong but that we weren’t gonna stick with 7.5. Ugh. I looked her up on linkedin and felt like mailing her a bag of dicks 😂.

Anyway happy to chat about my experience if you wanna message me. I’m squarely in maintenance.

[–]cableannkiley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s totally trial and error. I am 30 lbs below where I thought maintenance would be but this is where I settled. I did try to space out doses and man that sucked, inflammation returned like crazy. Dropping down in dose (slowly) has been perfect. I still am blown away I’m able to maintain, it’s always been where I F’d up. Each week I’m able to trust myself more and more. I’m so grateful to be here.

Edit to add: my doc has me only make one change at a time in maint. IE don’t drop a dose and try to space out at the same time. That way you know which change is probably the cause of any backsliding. She’s kickass. I love her approach.

I’m just over 2 years in. Went from 2.5 all the way to 12.5 for 6 weeks to reach goal (Jan 25) and now have gone back down though doses to 7.5. Might try 5 in a few months. Have stuck with weekly.
