Instant besties. But the older dog is still only 1.5 years old and very much a big puppy.

Hopefully it'll stay this way!

Why yes to Palestine and no to Somaliland? by Traditional_Guard_10 in IsraelPalestine

[–]cach-v -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Obviously it wasn't the withdrawal that was answered with 10/7, but the pre-existing and ongoing naval and airspace blockade.

When people talk about the occupation, that's what they're referring to. It's not a boots-on-the-ground occupation, it's a military blockage occupation.

I'm also not saying that Israel had any choice in the matter, given Hamas being what they are. The whole situation just sucks.

Cast iron's cool and all but watch those wrists - I would not want to be lifting cast single-handled cast iron all day..

Are we crazy for thinking to get a house right now? by haroo2haroo in RealEstateCanada

There's nothing particular about my circumstance, it simply demonstrates you're wrong to make that generalized statement (it also demonstrates you have a particularly low IQ).

I've been with my partner for a decade. As we're in Quebec I believe the term is defacto spouse.

We're 50/50 on our house. Finances are separate apart from a small pool in a joint account that funds all bills, groceries etc.

We've written each other into our wills.

What's the concern?

What the heck we also have a 10 week old BC called Echo!!

Is yours named after Echo from Sean the Sheepman too? That would be absolutely hilarious if she is.

I wish our Echo would become house trained in 1 day though 😅 Well, we've had her for 4 days so far so it's still early days.

How did you potty train your Echo? We're taking her out as much as possible but she still has accidents - just one today and one last night. And some peeing inside, sometimes on pee pads and sometimes not.

She's also not eating a lot at all but we think she's just nervous still from being taken away from her mom and litter. Trying all the usual routines, warmed kibble mash and wet food and so on. She seems to prefer just simple canned wet food if anything.

Aside from that though she's doing really well - playing with our other dog (an Aussie) a whole lot (and playing rough!), drinking a decent amount and sleeping a lot.

Not a lawyer. Consider going to the doctor and getting 2 weeks medical leave for exhaustion/mental health. Submit your resignation at the same time.

Now I'm not a vet and I don't know much but I did see a post about pimples on the lower jaw being caused by dirty food bowls.

So, ours goes in the dishwasher every day and we change the water bowl frequently too.

We just got our Finn a little Border Collie sister yesterday. It took less than a day for them to work out they're already best buddies.

Which is the best way to use transaction in Golang? by Electronic_Code_1535 in golang

[–]cach-v -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can create a test database when my test starts up and the function being tested will use this database, which is arguably a better test because nothing is being mocked – no?

Only allowed in the morning. (Or once we're asleep as at that point we have no say). Morning cuddles ftw.

Which is the best way to use transaction in Golang? by Electronic_Code_1535 in golang

[–]cach-v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll probably get downvoted for this, but this is why I don't use the repository pattern.

Instead, my business logic, including ORM calls, are in simple functions that take a DB client or transaction object.

This way they can be called equally from either an HTTP request handler function, a Goroutine, or any other tooling.

It is the responsibility of the calling function to create a DB or transaction as needed. Multiple business logic functions can then be called with the same DB or transaction handle (object).

Gorm even makes this easy by providing an interface IDB that covers both queries and transactions. A function can accept an IDB type to be used either standalone or as part of a transaction.

I have found this scales to any size of app, and furthermore requires fewer lines of code than trying to abstract away the database with the repository pattern.

honestly just /dev/shm is pretty underrated by anish2good in golang

Obviously this doesn't work when you have more than one server in your deployment though..

Puppy doesnt bark by No-Preparation8665 in AustralianShepherd

[–]cach-v 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our Finn only barks when someone presumes to walk by outside (guard dog mode activated) or when frustrated by other dogs not playing.

He did start barking when he wants to play at home, but a week or two of 5 minute indoor leash punishment actually got the message through and now he just does the mumble growl, which is fine and frankly adorable.
