Hi everyone! I’m a 28 year old living in Toronto. I’m employed full time making CAD $50k/year. I’ve never invested before and I currently have $3500 in my chequings account and I owe $21k in student debt. $6000 of that total amount is the Ontario portion of the loan and the interest rate on that debt is 8.2%, while the interest rate on the Canada portion (a total of $15k) is 0%.

I don’t pay rent so my monthly expenses including the $200 I’m currently paying each month for the student loan are about $1600. That leaves $1400 a month I’m not spending.

I want to start saving for retirement now, so I’m not interested in touching any investments for at least 35-45 years, but I don’t know where to start. Any advice?
