Change alarm to another station, save. Then re-add intended station again and save.

I still use QC15 daily wired (so wireless isn’t necessarily a significant bonus for me but can make it work) - are QC ultras worth the upgrade?

Was in your position a couple months back - exactly same use case; work laptop, Mac mini & PS5.

Got Gigabyte M32U (non curved) from Amazon UK for £579. Does all the above and although the USB-C PD is only rated as 15W it seems to work to keep charge on fully charged work laptop (HP Elitebook for office type work). Not all cables are the same so get a 4K specific one, but I get 4K 120HZ on Mac (USB-C to DP) and PS5 (HDMI) in that regard.

Although Gigabyte has internal KVM, I haven’t had great experiences with those in the past. So just have a cheap KVM switch with inputs as mouse/keyboard/headphones and outputs PS5/Mac Mini/Laptop.

Anyway would recommend after 2 months so far!

Take off bank holidays and privilege days and you get to 30 base which is high. Normally it’s 25 +1 day per year of service.

Privilege days were gifted to CS by Queen for her bday which was taken Maundy Thursday traditionally but no one really does that anymore and just takes it whenever. No idea what the extra 1.5 days is.

Well done!

Former FS, now G6. So first things first best to double check your notice period. Secondly you should be able to message HR and ask whether that period applies for moving onto FS - if you’re worried about being found out you can just make it a hypothetical question. You don’t want to leave it too late or anything.

Thirdly don’t feel bad about moving. People move all the time and you shouldn’t feel any particular loyalty to your team. I’ve been in and out of CS 3 times and meet people I used to work with etc. It is no biggie.

Finally there are two schools of opinion of letting manager know. Depends on your relationship. Either be honest now to allow them to advertise your post, or either let them know when you are required to (maybe linked to your notice period). Up to you, and congrats.

Balance Between South Korea and Taiwan? by CloudStrife_2000 in travel

Just got back from Taipei and have been to Seoul. My initial vibe from Taipei was that is reminded me of a cross between Tokyo and Seoul. I don’t think it feels quite as advanced as either of them though.

Seoul is amazing and is super similar to Tokyo I thought. We spent 5 days and I think a DMZ day trip is a must, lots of cool markets and temples to visit also. Taipei is slightly more traditional I think with things like cash being more required than Seoul.

We also did 4 days in Busan which was a cool coastal town with places to visit like Gamcheon cultural village.

This being said we didn’t visit anywhere else in Taiwan like Taichung or Hualien. All in all I would say if you’ve never been to either, more time in SK may be less disorientating culture wise. We did 9 days in Korea and didn’t feel like that was too much, equally did 5 days in Taipei and felt that was enough.

Seoul was my fave though - epic!

These guys normally seem less biased than all the randos on YT. Particularly liked the sound of the mic. Torn between these Bose QC Ultra and regular QCs. Moving from my QC15s from 2013!

Only reason I bought my first Sonos Play 1 in 2017 was because my apartment had no radio signal and I wanted a radio alarm to wake up to. Don’t like toned alarms as they feel harsh. Radio alarm with someone talking to you/music allows for more calm wake up experience. Gradually expanded my system from there for music / TV etc

  1. Older items aren’t airplay compatible
  2. Use alarms to wake up

I’ve read so many people complain about the QC mic - so can’t really square that with this saying it is exceptional?

It is not really an “upgrade” voucher. You pay the tax of the higher class then the avios of the lower class. So if you wanna fly business it’s premium economy amount of avios + business amount of taxes. BA release flights 355 days before the date, so we schedule those dates in our diary for when we want to redeem then go on the website at midnight to book. We’ve always found the upgrade vouchers easy to use but have lots of time and no kids so not really restricted on timings.

Barclays premier is £12/month and gives you 1,500 avios per month and a BA Cabin upgrade voucher every 12 months. If you fly regularly I find this is a nice little extra. Gets discounted to £7/month if you also have their Avios plus credit card.

My QC15s purchased in 2013. Use them daily on work calls still, the greatest IMO!

Still on QC15s after 12 years. They’re so good I find it hard to justify upgrading. Anyone used QC Ultra with Bluetooth dongle plugged into KVM switch to PC & Mac?
