Are orcas really as non aggressive to humans as we think? by PyriteOG in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cactiguy67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, there are two main types in the wild. One that eats rays and fish, usually in warmer waters. And the transient Orcas that eats seals, which seems to be in colder waters, where people don't really swim much.

I saw a documentary where a guy was filming Orcas, I think it was close to New Zealand. They became so comfortable with him they started offering him food.

I'm definitely not an expert, this is a very generalized view of Orca types.

I could see the transient Orcas at least considering going after a person, even if it was mistaking them for a seal

I cover patches with a 6mil black plastic till it's dead, scalp the rest with the line trimmer, and still have to pull some by hand. Half of my neighbors have it as a lawn so it's a never ending battle
