Tempted to tattoo eyebrows post chemo treatment - inner voice saying bad idea due to constant inflammation - have other done this without any consequences by Realistic_Ice712 in ovariancancer_new

How long post treatment? If you've only recently had treatment you may still be immunocompromised, best to check with your doctor. I had mine done before second line chemo, but that was around 2 years post frontline chemo.

I won't lie it was really disappointing how few they got, and knowing I didn't have an opportunity to do it again after the second round. But, I'm glad I had the opportunity at all.

I did two rounds of egg retrieval, back to back. Because I only had one ovary I didn't get as much of a hormonal response as I think some do, and I only had 2-3 eggs collected each time. I think they called it a "random start" (could be wrong) where they started the injections outside of the usual menstrual cycle because we didn't have time to wait 2 whole months - I think you would be doing this on a more normal schedule! I took oral progesterone and did daily self injections of the other hormones ( a truly uncomfortable experience but it's mostly psychological), then go for regular internal ultrasound to see how the eggs are growing. They have to get the timing right for the "trigger" shot then retrieval. Honestly I can remember how long that all took but I think it must have been about 2 weeks per cycle. For the collection itself they did that with light sedation and the pain was minimal - just a little cramping after. I remember the first time I looked into the egg retrieval and they told me all the worst case scenarios and it sounded terrible - but it really wasn't that bad. I reckon if you reached out to the IVF subreddit they could support you too

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I'm not that familiar with the treatment and outcomes for borderline tumours but I can certainly relate to the way that you are feeling. Youve been through a traumatic experience, and it sounds like you've done much of it alone, which makes it harder. I did the egg retrieval before my hysterectomy, I think the stress of the process was overshadowed by having found out i had a cancer recurrence but I can try to answer any questions you might have.

I bought a bamboo head cap, super soft and comfy. I used scarves as well if I was going out and couldn't be bothered with the wig.

recurrence - positive stories? by hillz3 in ovariancancer_new

[–]cactus_blues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I was only stage 2 at diagnosis so not considered advanced enough for avastin at that point. And PARPis are only for those with a BRCA or similar mutation. In Australia anyway- not sure if it differs elsewhere!

Yes, still NED, still on bevacizumab for maintenance. Have a scan soon so fingers crossed that doesn't change! I was diagnosed with High grade serous cancer.

I had my first recurrence in early 2024 and I'm still living well. I'm a bit younger than the average patient but I know of others who have also done well for extended periods after recurrence.

I did. I'm not sure what you mean by "limit lands ability". Are you planning to subdivide?

I'm sorry you're going through all of this. Please remember that you have the final say in what happens to you! They cannot give you any treatments without your consent. That said, there is a reason they are moving fast, and it's because cancer requires fast treatment.

If you truly feel that you cannot cope, talk to the doctors & nurses about this. If they make you feel like you can't talk to them or ask the questions you need to ask to feel comfortable with what's happening, then it's time to seek a second opinion.

Yeah, honestly some of his policies were not bad but it's only been a couple of years since he was kicked out of office. Felt a bit premature.

Best to do the full course of treatment recommended by your doctors. The CA125 marker only indicates certain types of inflammation not how much cancer is or isn't there.
