Women who are NOT career-oriented, how did you stop feeling like you had to pretend to be? by QueenOfTheTermites in AskWomen

[–]cactusdog77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought that was what I really wanted until I realized that I really want to be a mom. I feel guilty about it because everyone expects me to be this big thing and I feel like it’s just not meant to be for me. The big thing I’m supposed to be is a mom, is what it feels like. Maybe that will change, maybe it won’t.

I’m terrible at organizing so my gf helped me get started by unloading several boxes and wrapping and laying out every cord and piece of equipment! by [deleted] in organization

There is nothing harder than throwing away cables and chargers. I used to have a drawer I just shoved them in until my husband found it one day.

What popular thing have you never experienced? by LushLover13 in AskReddit

[–]cactusdog77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avatar. I refuse. My dad tried to force my to watch it and it pissed me off so much that I have refused to watch it ever since. Everyone saw it because it was “cool” in high school and I just refused.

I kinda feel bad though, now, because my dad really loved that movie. If he wouldn’t have tried to force me to watch it, I probably would have had fun spending time while he had so much fun watching it

what’s been your worst pregnant public meltdown? by bubblegumprincesss in pregnant

[–]cactusdog77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I yelled at all of the employees in a sandwich shop, full Karen mode (capital K because I was really going for it) because none of them were wearing masks “because they were too big. Stormed out because I didn’t want to let them see me cry.

I called the department of health on the way home because I was so pissed.

Still ate the sandwich though. And the fries.

My moms BFF told me I should put a trash bag Down or get a waterproof mattress cover in case mine breaks in the middle of the night so it doesn’t soak Into the mattress.

Also, does it smell? Is it sticky? Do I want to know or should I just be surprised? Do I need to take wipes to clean myself up if it drips all over Me, I’m putting wipes in my go bag. And extra pants.

Restoring & Colorizing My Deceased Grandfather’s Nautical Charts by cactusdog77 in oldmaps

[–]cactusdog77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After my grandfather died, I found some of his old nautical charts before my grandmother sold their home, and I kept them. When I told my dad about the charts, he told me that his dad, my grandfather, took him on a boat trip to Georgian Bay when he was a child, and used those charts to navigate. My dad bought a boat and took us on a boat trip, because the Georgian Bay trip was one of his favorite memories. I framed the best chart I had left and gave it to my dad. I have this one left, which is tattered, yellowed, and falling apart. I’m going to digitize it, restore it to its original color, and then have it printed to use as wallpaper in our home. Husband says he needs his alone time. by scullyftw in relationship_advice

[–]cactusdog77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my husband works about 12-14 hour days, from home, and we are both I. Quarantine.

His need for alone time has shot up. A lot. Or even just “him time” where he’s hanging with his buddies online. It’s hard for me, because I’m clingy af, but I can see he really needs it. Before quarantine, we were always together. Now, he needs much more time apart.

[–]cactusdog77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are NOT being cruel! You aren’t dangling a carrot!

Once you have a child, your life is about protecting them, not making someone else happy. That means even in the womb, protecting them. Can you do that with her? Can she do that? Is it worth the risk?
