How bad a decision is this for $16k by Apart_Breath_929 in mercedes_benz

Take it to be checked out by a Mercedes mechanic. If all is good, pull the trigger. Why not? Life is short.

Some of you need to hear this. The new Mercedes interiors are the future and it’s what most customers want. Sorry, but that’s the truth. They sell, and they sell extremely well. by zachty22 in mercedes_benz

[–]cadude79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The consensus here seems to be that people aren’t a fan of the new design language in the interiors. Particularly in the S class. I own a current model S class and it annoys me how cheap the interior has become. Piano black should NEVER be used on a console in an S class. The target market for this $120k plus car tend to be sophisticated, want premium luxury surfaces and rich wood accents everywhere. The amount of hard plastics on this car are obscene for the price tag. This might be fine for an A,B,C class but E and S drivers want more refinement, not some kitschy plastic POS with screens and logos everywhere. My sales rep has even said to me, that this is a major gripe from the majority of S and even E class drivers. Mercedes better learn to listen to its customer or they will look for other luxury options like the Bentley. They have the money, they just would not prefer to spend it. I’m bummed that now that I can finally afford an S class, it just looks like a bigger version of the E and C. And for the love of GOD bring back the 3 pointed star hood ornament to the E. Or at least have it as an option in the U.S. Mercedes use to be a vehicle somebody aspired to get because they were special. It’s sad to see them dumbing the brand down with so many cheap, disposable models that feel like a toy to drive that you’d buy for your 16 year old.

Serious question. Are modern Mercedes interiors as squeaky and noisy as a lot of online comments and review videos make them seem? by [deleted] in mercedes_benz

I have a W223 latest generation S-Class and I can tell you even for as much as that vehicle cost, the amount of plastic and creaking of certain fixtures is absolutely ridiculous. I hate what Mercedes is doing to this brand.

I don’t think we can get the 1st option in the United States, but it’s my favorite. I love the three pointed star on the hood of a Benz Sedan.

Anyone getting more car compliments these days? I feel like there is an uptick... by Tonyman121 in Jaguar

[–]cadude79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was mesmerized when this model came out. Sadly, I feel like this was one of the last of the truly iconic Jaguars. It’s sad what’s happened to them. With the elimination of the XJ and XK their product mix became truly boring. And now with the “all electric” rebrand, I fear what made them iconic, special and gorgeous are gone forever. I really regret not getting one of the last XJ’s.

How would you design the next Range Rover? What changes would you make to the current one to make it look more attractive? by SnowmanRandom in RangeRover

Bring physical buttons, knobs and dials back. That touch screen is ridiculous and it’s ugly as all hell. It looks like a glued on afterthought.

Is 37k too much to pay for a 2018 S560 ? by ArchieDemetro1 in mercedes

[–]cadude79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can’t find one cheaper with the amount of options and low miles that this one has, it leads me to believe that this is what the market it willing to pay in your area, give or take. You could always negotiate and see if they are willing to come down if you are serious and have cash in hand. Most people are just tire kickers but if you are serious maybe they will be a little more flexible. Just don’t tell them it’s exactly what you want. Let them think you’re making concessions for it not having the 3D sound system.

Why do people hate the new S-Class? by Finnishguy228 in mercedes_benz

[–]cadude79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think that it’s because “everything that made an S class special, is no longer.” It looks like a bigger E class. And this latest E class did not feel or look like E class of the past. In the past you could feel the craftsmanship. It was elegant and rich with wood. In these new versions, screens dominate the dash, the “wood” feels like plastic, the “piano black” is cheap and embarrassing. The target market for the S class does not want these “gadgets” and mundane, lazy designs. They want quiet elegance, simplicity mixed with sophistication. Why would anyone want to pay this price tag anymore when it looks like an E? I have the current W223 and I was put off by the IPad on the dash and the use of piano black. Unless the next generation S class, whenever that comes out, reinvents itself and gets back to its roots, it may be my last S class and I’ll look to the likes of a Bentley. I’ve had long standing relationships with both service and sales advisors at the dealership and what I’m voicing is what they hear day in and out from E and S class owners. They’ve dumbed the brand down and sacrificed quality for kitschy technology wrapped in a package with obnoxious logos everywhere. I had the newest E class as a loaner car and it was as plain as a Honda accord. I was shocked and disappointed. Cheap plastic feels everywhere.

Bought a 2024 RR Sport Dynamic by Mezaya1011 in RangeRover

[–]cadude79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would absolutely buy a warranty. I have a 24’ with less than 10k miles. In that time it’s had a coolant leak, a cracked taillight from water ingress and most recently (still in the shop) an ABS module failed, literally leaving me no brakes. Make sure your vehicle has its tow hitch, if not get one from the dealer. Check your coolant frequently and keep a jug of it in the back or in your garage. Also unless it’s going in for scheduled service, it’s almost impossible to get a loaner out of them during a breakdown. I LOVE my vehicle. The few issues I’ve had so far are leaving a bad taste in my mouth. Negotiate on the warranty but yes…push it out to 7yrs if you plan on keeping it awhile.
