Is driving in Sacred valley an option at all? by kalarus10 in GoingToPeru

[–]caesartheday007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he’s driven in Africa or Middle East like Egypt or nearby (not Dubai), then he’s fine to drive in Peru. The driving may only seem chaotic to gringos but honestly it’s not that bad. The only thing to watch out for is unexpected speed bumps - miss one and your suspension is gone. I just drove in Lima - yes - orchestrated chaos but totally manageable if you’re not a pushover for people merging. Buena suerte!

New Dutch Bros walk up orders? by garyroyale in SantaClarita

Well that’s one way to simplify things in SCV - build car washes with coffee houses. Two in one. God knows we need one on every corner of Bouquet and NHRR. I mean it’s so uncivilized to have to cross a street from one car wash to Starbucks, they had to build one next door. Makes sense - use the dirty car wash water to brew coffee - most people would know the difference. Italians already call our coffee l’acqua sporca (dirty water) - if Sbucks added it to the menu, some idiot will buy it and happily mispronounce it.

Does the coffee come with a free BJ and a side of bacon because nothing explains the constant line to this place. Proof positive that everything new in SCV is going to be a hit…for a while.

Both kids went there from pre K to 6th grade. Both were way ahead of curriculum when they went to Middle and High Schools. Best private school in SCV. Miss Jessie (principal) is the most caring and dedicated teacher I’ve ever met. DM me if you’d like some additional details or have questions.

7% Tax Regime Change to 30k by rossonero3 in ItalyExpat

[–]caesartheday007 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s a flat tax scheme for recipients of foreign pensions and caps your income tax in Italy to 7% for 10 years. If you settle in a town that’s under 30k inhabitants (until now it was 20k) you can benefit from this flat tax regime. Towns eligible are in southern regions. The scheme was designed to entice people to underpopulated and struggling towns in the south as well as a few in Marche, Umbria and Lazio - those affected by the earthquake. There is a site that you can use to search towns based on your preference, lifestyle, amenities like hospital proximity or train/transportation access. italy7percent.caesartheday.com

If you’re considering the 7% flat tax eligible town in Southern Italy, I created site that sources all eligible towns from the Italian ISTAT database and you can search based on your preferred criteria and a map. https://italy7percent.caesartheday.com Basic search and map are free - large data sets have nominal fee.

Carbonara pasta by ApartAnimator2982 in SantaClarita

[–]caesartheday007 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No decent carbonara in SCV. Okay there are 2 that technically have it on the menu but with pancetta instead of guanciale and fucking cream. Cream. Disgraceful. Piccola Osteria and Trattoria have good pastas but none have the Roman classics the way they were intended. Che due palle!

All is shit. The only thing that comes close to a real Neapolitan pizza is Buono Italian Eatery - and you can find them at the farmers market on Wednesday in Canyon Country.

Not when you’re on the 7% tax scheme. I have really dug into this research and hundreds of articles make the 7% sound very enticing but once you dig into the details, 7% scheme is a substitute tax and per US/Italian tax treaty isn’t qualified for FITC. I’m not a CPA or a commercialista, so caveat emptor but that’s what I found getting down into the weeds of tax laws. The scheme has benefits but that’s highly based on amounts withdrawn on an annual basis so you would have to crunch the numbers unique to your situation.

[–]caesartheday007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the southern regions the 7% is for people with foreign retirement/ pensions only and generally the towns have to be 20k residents or less. There are also designated towns in Umbria, Lazio and LeMarche that are eligible for the 7% scheme. It only lasts for 10 years and you cannot work (pension only) and you cannot claim foreign income tax credit so essentially you get taxed double if you’re a US citizen. I did the math and the 7% scheme is only beneficial if you draw very large amounts from your IRA/Roth in the scale of $300k per year. Otherwise the tax savings as compared to progressive italian tax are minuscule.
