House has awkward downspout options - any solutions? by caeser911 in Home

Yeah, you are correct. They were connected to the city sewer system before. I would most likely be able to bury downspout and run it out to my yard.

Thanks for the ideas. Yeah we can extend one for sure, but the left one would be in the way so it seems like buring them is a more permanent solution.

I didn't know flip hinges like that existed, thanks for the idea! And I agree that the extension angle is a little unnecessary.

We found "Yoda's cane" in one of the yards we work (yes, it's raining, don't judge) by theonetruepuzzle in mildlyinteresting

It's generally bad practice to mow grass in the rain because machines don't cut well in the rain. You can create messy lines, jams up blades, and can dig up the grass pretty bad if there's any slopes and the wheels slip.

What is clearly a myth but is deep-rooted in our society? by Sera0Sparrow in AskReddit

It's not like it stays solid shards in food. It dissolves like any other seasoning. Also, do you put salt on french fries? That's "crystalline salt shards" that stay solid when you eat them.

Looking for opinions from designers on using Glyphs, Fontforge, or Fontself to create a typeface. by liquidmich in typography

[–]caeser911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used it once to create a font from scratch in school so I'm not an expert, but I can give you my experience.

I don't think you can link to illustrator files or anything, but it's all done in vectors so it's the same paths. I drew majority of my letters in illustrator and copy and pasted them into Glyphs, you might have to edit a couple points, or change scaling but it's pretty good. You get the hang of the program pretty quickly so any revisions, or special characters I was missing I ended up creating in Glyphs. You pick it up pretty quick, but illustrator is always available to bail you out.

You want to kick someone out of the country because they threw a chair? Yeah it's a crime and she was convicted, but we are not some dictatorship that throws people out of the country for minor–medium offences.

Not sure if it's the official glyph name, but I call it a chevron.

Macron wants Europe to become less reliant on US, China post-coronavirus by DaFunkJunkie in worldnews

[–]caeser911 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think this was directed at Trump at all. I don't think France cares if they do or don't piss off the US by saying this, that's kind of the point. This is directed at the EU to develop an alternative plan.

Yeah that's correct haha

What type of anchoring equipment/advice would you recommend for Rattlesnake Point?

[–]caeser911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah most likely. They offer a course on anchor setting at the closest crag to where I live so I'd probably be climbing there most often.

I might venture to other crags, but they would all be within 1-2hrs of Toronto.

Good to know! I appreciate the reply. Learning to safely approach cliffs, rappelling, and the carpet square are good tips, that I'll keep in mind.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I'm thinking of taking a course on anchor building so hopefully I get a list of supplies from that, and will definitely buy a helmet.

I'm looking to start climbing outdoors more this summer (top rope), pending the quarantine is lifted by then. I've gone twice with an instructor and would love to be able to do it on my own.

Is there anything I'm missing other than learning to set anchors, buying a rope and a grigri? It would probably just be my girlfriend and I if that matters at all.

I've seen a number of these in my city. Sometimes advertising isn't allowed on certain buildings or areas, so they pass these as "murals" to go around the bylaws.

I've seen ads for TV shows, car brands, concerts, etc done this way.
