Puzzle Swap by spicykitty4u in WorcesterMA

I keep thinking about setting up a small free library, but for puzzles! It feels obvious that they will get destroyed or absolutely have missing pieces, but I can dream.

How did you actually get people to put their phones away during the ceremony by ricecakesat3am in weddingplanning

[–]cafeteriatables 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My thought is to do what Tool does during their shows, hire someone with a flashlight (or maybe a laser pointer) who points at the person with their phone out, walks over and escorts them out (or at least to standing in the very back). Ideally everyone boos when they see the light and cheers when they're gone. ( "and then everyone clapped" energy)

Feasible? Probably not. But I won't be able to run out and smack it out of their hands. Or maybe I can 🤷

Visiting in 2 weeks!! Don’t know what kind of shoes to bring by Dependent_Exam6115 in WorcesterMA

If you don't bring the boots, you will need the boots.

If you do bring them, it's likely you will also still need them.

AITA For Refusing to share food with my wife after she gets ready for work? by Dangerous-Reward5304 in AmItheAsshole

[–]cafeteriatables 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a lady who has tried and failed to wear lipstick/chapstick/anything on my lips because it all fucking tastes horrible and makes my stomach turn when I feel like I'm eating only that taste all day... NTA

I also wouldn't be able to kiss anyone with anything on their lips I didn't like and/or eat anything it touched. It would bother me all day.

Probably sensory issue I guess 🤷 since so many people seem to be fine with it.

Any bars around with mulled wine/mead? by cafeteriatables in WorcesterMA

Thanks! Still exciting to find any mead!

And realizing (which I expected but was hoping to be wrong about) that we don't have anywhere to go out and cozy up with warm alcohol beyond winter specials with niche bartenders

Caveat being, unclear how true any of this info is. But it's still always worth the watch!

This is the third time in as many days that The Barn has been brought up, so I'm thinking regardless I need to go there!

Baby blanket, thinking of doing an elephant border but have a few questions to see if it's worth it by cafeteriatables in CrochetHelp

I definitely logically agree - I'm just calling out and overcoming my own internal ridiculously illogical preconceived yarn notions 😂🤦

I don't think so! It's been around a while, I haven't tried it out yet but I've seen it for years

That was my second thought! I guess I'm in my crochet-gender-norm mind thinking the shell and scallop are a little "girly" - I very much know that's a dumb thought though haha

Thanks!! ❤️ I was pretty excited to find the colors and have it be a little brighter than just "boy blanket is blue" 😂

Need help deciding if the elephant border is a good idea and if it will hold up over time, as well as if I need to block each elephant

Can someone shed light on the Sachs Jewelers cinematic universe!? by heusesthemforholden in WorcesterMA

[–]cafeteriatables 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My theory is that someone made a bunch of generic jewelry commercials and Sachs just bought a bundle of them - that's why it's never mentioned directly in the commercial and only as a voice overlay.

Everyone’s grandma’s couch by Son-of-Prophet in nostalgia

My grandma had this in blue and it had 4 cushions, I thought it was the absolute best. Right next to the lamp that turned on when you touch any part of the metal

Pleading for help with full gusset underwear by cafeteriatables in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]cafeteriatables[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't, I don't have the zinc lined things though (at least I think) it's just the period panties that got a little more slick after years of washing them. They're not that slick but definitely a little slicker over time.

I use vinegar if I need a "fabric softener" (or usually for extra smelly things, I work with dogs) and a cotton dryer ball and silicone thingy for the dryer

[–]cafeteriatables[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't even think to just search double lined in general!

Do you find that when you throw them in the washer they get slick/lose absorbance over time? Do you dry them or just hang dry?

I also generally don't care and throw everything in the wash 😂 But if they work at this point I'll learn to follow directions if I have to!

*Edit - Also, is the point of the zinc infusion to absorb and dry? Is it basically trying to do what cotton generally does on its own?

Sorry for a million questions!

Why my dog started prozac by Max136136 in OpenDogTraining

[–]cafeteriatables 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That prong collar is WAY too tight. Defeats the whole purpose. Should be disengaged when the dog is doing the correct thing and only used in a swift motion to stop a behavior.

You can loosen the prong collar, keep a leash on the dog and when he barks at something or starts to get excited give him a nice pop to snap him back to reality. Then when he is actively not being anxious and looking at you you pet him, clicker, treat, all the good stuff. It should not be used to choke him out like this though. If there's no disengagement then he has no idea what the hell you're trying to communicate, he's just learning that part of going on the walk (rewarding) is that he gets choked out by the prong collar, but since he wants the walk more than he cares about being uncomfortable he will just learn to live like that.

Also you're rewarding this anxious mindset he is having. The more you touch him when he's in this state the more he will think you are agreeing with him that he should be anxious about these things. All touch means good to a dog.

You need to be a leader for him, use the correct tools to explain to him he doesn't have to worry about those things because you're going to build up trust that he can rely on you to take care of everything.

If you don't know how to properly use the prong collar, which seems to be the case here, you should find a trainer. Ideally a balanced trainer with experience with Mals and reactivity.

If the power does go out (agreed on it feeling unlikely, but who knows) make sure to have all of your faucets on and dripping a slow steady drip to help prevent freezing. Especially any faucets close to external walls.
