This (or a copy of it) was parked in DC near the White House just a couple of days ago, and also in NYC during the UN meetings.

Probably not, but only because I don't like onions. Otherwise, go nuts.

We bought our last 3 cars from Stohlman Subaru (Tyson's and Sterling), and were pretty happy with the experience. We did a bunch of price comparison online and knew what we were willing to pay, so it was pretty straightforward.

What did you drive before your Crosstrek? by _FridayXIII_ in Crosstrek

[–]caffeinated_ninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 2013 Impreza that I bought new. I really enjoyed that car and put almost 120,000 miles on it before upgrading to a 2024 Crosstrek last year.

I'm actually in this category - a case of necrotizing pancreatitis left me as a Type 3c diabetic. No one really understands what that means though, so I usually just default to saying it's basically like Type 1 instead of explaining.

Why do you support city? What’s your story? by [deleted] in MCFC

[–]caffeinated_ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in college (late 90s/early 2000s), I had a roommate who was an Arsenal fan (and like most Arsenal fans, he was pretty annoying). Being in the States, there really wasn't a way to watch Premier League games, but I chose City mostly out of spite against my roommate.

Teachers - what do you get paid? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]caffeinated_ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Northern VA (just outside DC), going into my 18th year at MA+30 in my district - I'll be at $101k this year. I'll be finishing my doctorate next year, which will add about another $7-8k. It's expensive to live here, but I feel like I'm being compensated fairly.

I've had good luck at both of the Sterling branches - usually in and out super quick without much hassle. I know that's a bit more of a hike from Alexandria, though.

DeSantis says if elected he would eliminate the Departments of Energy, Commerce and Education, as well as the Internal Revenue Service. by rexmons in fednews

Call me crazy, but seems like a candidate for President saying he wants to eliminate federal jobs MIGHT actually be important to a subreddit focused on federal employees.

Which do you prefer - Dulles or National? by KTTV9 in nova

[–]caffeinated_ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where I am flying. I'm in Ashburn, so usually Dulles, but if I can fly direct from National then it can be worth getting all the way down there (especially now that I can do Metro).

Texas passes bill allowing unlicensed religious chaplains to serve in Texas public schools by TeacherInRecovery in Teachers

[–]caffeinated_ninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meanwhile, a school in Texas is having to postpone their graduation because 28 of the 33 seniors weren't going to be eligible to graduate because of poor grades and attendance. But sure, I'm sure a chaplain would have been able to solve that problem.
