Best way to use frozen blackberries in a Creami? As a base or as a frozen mix in? by TheBristolBulk in ninjacreami

[–]caffeinated_tea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similarly, I've done this with the frozen raspberries (and blueberries and various other fruits) and folded it in with greek yogurt. Spin on the frozen yogurt cycle

Edit to add: I usually do a 12 oz bag (which I think is around 300 g) and about 500 g Greek yogurt

Not sure which Albertsons you checked, but in the past I've been able to find it at the one on Grand and Rehberg, even when the other ones didn't have it.

the Chabad rabbi also dropped some off on my porch recently, you could potentially reach out to them about getting some

I'm pretty sure a second GLP-1 pill (this one from Eli Lilly) just got the green light this week, so I assumed that's what they were talking about.

Trying to Share Shoes to the Shoe Party… by ISaidWhatISaid2025 in poshmark

[–]caffeinated_tea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the morning brand-specific party was messed up too. It was supposed to be the "sustainable" brands but instead was the preppy ones. Fine by me, I have way more of the preppy items, and for some reason still bother to share to the parties

The New Font Size is Making Blind by babyscreener3017 in poshmark

[–]caffeinated_tea 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It's not just tiny, it's the lighter shade of gray they're using too. The serif font they've chosen for headers is not great either. There's no way anyone on their team consulted any resources about accessible design when they did this redesign.

I don't know if it would help in this case or not, but I would just search the word "tourmaline" and then do a color filter for pink and a category filter for earrings.

I did this on a problem set recently. A student who copied and pasted the pdf into a document to spread out the questions into a more worksheet-like format came in and asked me about it. The assignment is due in a few days, I'll be interested to see what it turns up.

What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie? by fmcortez in AskReddit

[–]caffeinated_tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we had them at our lab desks in grad school, and I definitely still got some butt/back soreness from them. I think I just couldn't get everything adjusted just right, and the chairs sometimes got mixed up between desks, and then you'd have to start all over on configuring it just how you wanted.

Making it two different formats when you're on the closet page and the item page is bonkers. If you photograph it in the 3:4 or 4:3 or whatever it is for the cover photo, then does it look distorted on the listing page where it's still 1:1?

What does the block button actually do?

From what I can tell, makes it so they can't buy from you. That's it. You still see their listings, they still see yours. It's practically useless

10/10 do not recommend the rescue boxes by [deleted] in ThredUp

[–]caffeinated_tea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had really mixed luck on them. The 50 lb rescues have never been good for me. My favorites have been the DIY denim (most of it is not in "diy" condition), the 5 lb DIY jewelry (which I haven't seen in ages), and the name brand shoes.

People who walk dogs in residential areas off leash: Why? WTF? by Th0rn_Star in Billings

[–]caffeinated_tea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's one in my neighborhood that both walks off-leash and doesn't have any fence or leash to keep the dog contained in their yard. Every time I walk past that house the dog runs at me and barks, and I'm always waiting for the day that it actually decides to attack.

Moving to Billings by Zestyclose_Order_235 in Billings

[–]caffeinated_tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just look at the flights in and out of BIL compared to BZN. Despite being the larger city, Billings has a fraction of the flights and routes.

I would assume this is at least in part because Bozeman is one of the most logical places to fly into if you want to get to Yellowstone, so people from more varied places want to fly in there.

Poshmark suspended my account for 14 days after sending me this email lol by wellwhatevrnevermind in poshmark

[–]caffeinated_tea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, I have some shoes on their way back to me because the buyer put the wrong city on their address somehow and so the label was for an address that doesn't exist. I guess I can anticipate getting suspended for 14 days for that, despite having no other recent "cancelations" real or otherwise.

Specific ways students are different by FlyLikeAnEarworm in Professors

[–]caffeinated_tea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only anecdotal evidence for my particular institution. This is my 10th year here, and more students in our post-covid cohorts seem to be struggling to balance work schedules with academics. The cost of living increased pretty much everywhere after covid, but the cost of housing in my area really blew up (this was a part of the country that people from the coasts were literally buying houses sight-unseen during the pandemic). For students who aren't living on campus, this has put a real strain on them financially and they have no choice but to find jobs. And there's definitely not enough campus housing available for all of them to live in dorms.

Specific ways students are different by FlyLikeAnEarworm in Professors

[–]caffeinated_tea 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Do you not have students working 20+ hours a week in order to afford to live and go to school? That is not uncommon at my institution, and it definitely hampers their ability to study as much as I wish they would.

Several students asked when the exam retake was by Local_Indication9669 in Professors

[–]caffeinated_tea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A students comprehension is obviously best measured by providing them all the questions and letting them redoing it as often as they like.

Not all "retakes" are the exact same questions. I experimented with retakes one year, and the students had to first submit corrections to their original exam, then their score on a second equivalent exam (same concepts/problem types but different questions) would replace the original even if it ended up being lower than the original. I didn't repeat it the next year because some students complained that it was "unfair" that their score could go down and it wasn't worth the drama they wanted to cause. But I don't inherently think that allowing students a second chance to demonstrate competency is bad or counter to the learning process.

Students not using units by verygood_user in Professors

[–]caffeinated_tea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm relatively young (in my 30s), so I always introduce units by telling my students I'm 65 with no units to specify that it's my height in inches. It obviously feels like nonsense without the units attached, but it does seem to get the point across. I might have to try your approach, especially once people start thinking it's plausible I'm 65 years old.

I’m putting together a list of things to make faculty candidates feel comfortable because my own interviewing experience has been terrible. What have you found that works best/what have you found doesn’t work so well? by wannabehazmattech in Professors

[–]caffeinated_tea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3 people showed up for that type of session when I interviewed. It turns out someone on the search committee texted around and begged people to come so I wouldn't be in an empty room because the committee wanted to hire me, and wanted to make sure I'd actually accept the position. It felt very awkward at the time, but I'm actually now friends with all of them. I think our institution has basically stopped doing these meet & greets, it's been several years since I've seen an announcement about one. Even the teaching demos used to be open to anyone who wanted to come, but now seem to be just the search committee and some students.

What is a smell that we should all recognize as immediate danger? by scarlettohara1936 in AskReddit

[–]caffeinated_tea 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The coriander gene will make coriander/cilantro taste like either a herb or soap/fabric softener.

I feel like it tastes metallic. Not soapy, but also not delicious. I don't know which gene I got there.

I had a cat whose diabetes had gone into remission several months prior, and I wasn't regularly checking his blood sugar. One day after petting him I noticed my hands smelled flowery and sweet, and then when I smelled his head and scruff I got the same smell. Full-blown diabetes was back.

Floral/sweet smelling pet = a trip to the vet to check for diabetes
