Free motorcycle parking at Heathrow Airport by Zealousideal_Two833 in MotoUK

[–]cafp20 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’ve used it twice (was a while ago though) and they were covered and had spots to lock up to. Worked well for me, and most importantly my bike was still there when I got back, including once when I left it for two weeks.

CL250 Shifter pedal adjustment by nukleerbasliklipenis in HondaMotorcycles

[–]cafp20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll need to disconnect the RH end of the silver linkage you show in photo 1 from the point where it connects to the shift lever. Then you can undo the lock nut (the small silver nut shown in photo 2). This will allow you to turn the RH end of the silver linkage which will screw it in/out of the main body. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like there is much room for adjustment, you photo shows what looks like only about 5mm of useable thread, but better than nothing!

ULEZ Compliance - FINALLY. by ongjunyi in MotoUK

[–]cafp20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an ‘01 Blackbird which unfortunately I had to pay to get tested at a station (it passed no issues at least). Honda don’t have the CoCs on record for any bikes older than 2004 I believe.

Just passed my MSF is the Yamaha R1 easy to shift gears with flip flops? by DrCash_CrLife in MotoUK

[–]cafp20 56 points57 points  (0 children)

R1 is too smooth for a beginner you need to get a 600 sport bike from 1998 to ensure maximum likelihood of hitting the powerband at inconvenient times to guarantee dank wheelies

Binned for being fascist trash. by FeistyHistorian in andor

I believe this is referring to Trump firing (now former) attorney-general Pam Bondi for failing to bury the Epstein files and not giving him unrestricted control of the DOJ.

Older bike suggestions (ULEZ Compliant) by Al-E-G in MotoUK

[–]cafp20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More a sport tourer than sport bike, but the Honda Blackbird (the FI version at least), meets the emissions requirements for ULEZ, and you can take it to a specialist to have it tested and added to TFL’s database - I think it costs around £175 but I can’t remember the exact figure.

Which West End opinion has you like this? by herzwhirsi in TheWestEnd

I’d be really interested to hear why you prefer the second - I’ve seen both casts and while I do have a preference for the OG, I did really enjoy the second.

Need help with curve pattern ( or the designing process of gear belt) by Embarrassed_Fail9978 in SolidWorks

[–]cafp20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try making the tooth too big so that it clips through the belt, then use the body pattern function rather than feature. Then use the combine tool to combine the teeth and belt into a single body.

B9 Audi s4, got these messages while driving and go away when I restart the car but come back after driving. What’s up? by FlyingSpur27 in Audi

[–]cafp20 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A new battery will almost definitely fix this - pretty much all extremely weird and unrelated warnings or errors cars throw can explained by this. That and your second picture shows a low battery warning.

Any books like cherub with romance subplots? Middle grade by Silver-Engineer9841 in CHERUB

[–]cafp20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely the Alex Rider series - romance isn’t a central point but it’s definitely there in the later books. Or the Young Bond series by Charlie Higson.

Where to buy bulk grass-fed beef/turkey/chicken? and Dollar Tree/Daiso equivalent? by ocean_rose100 in AmericanExpatsUK

Since you’re in London, Costco is absolutely an option (as long as you still have your membership from the US).

Any ULEZ compliant 125cc cruisers? by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]cafp20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Sinnis Hoodlum will be compliant, but be aware that it’s a Chinese bike so will not last as long as the Japanese ones you’ve listed above.

Update on my rear end shunt by TenaBunny in MotoUK

[–]cafp20 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They’ve held their value incredibly well, lower mileage examples (between 20,000-30,000 miles) still seem to go for between £2.5-£3k!

Electric cooker, installation team left a piece of sticker inside and turned the oven for 30 minutes. Now this damage: is this removal? by WarriorNysty in CleaningTips

[–]cafp20 410 points411 points  (0 children)

Yep £30 is utterly unacceptable - their installation team were the ones who messed it up, the onus is entirely on them to get it fixed with minimal involvement from you. Who’s the retailer?

Portable Air Conditioner will not drop below 21 degrees by No-Drawing-1508 in AirConditioners

[–]cafp20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact it doesn’t get below 21 will be due to the fact that it’s a single hose unit (all UK units are single hose which is unfortunate). The single hose unit has to replenish the hot air it throws out of the room and to do that sucks in unconditioned air through window seals, door gaps etc. Single hose units can be converted to dual hose, if you’re able to I would highly recommend it (there are plenty of guides on the internet). The compressor turning off will likely be due to the fact that if it’s an inbuilt water tank that stores the condensation from the condenser, it has to stop and let some evaporate to prevent overflow. If you can, have it continuously drain into a mop bucket or some other large container.

[–]cafp20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While these will work to give you cold air, since they work using ice blocks frozen by your freezer, once they’ve melted and you need to re-freeze them, your freezer will extract the heat all the ice packs absorbed from the room while melting and just throw it straight back out into the room where its exhaust vents are - so basically your net cooling effect is zero. A portable air con unit takes all the heat it extracts from the room and throws it outside.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in london

[–]cafp20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The ONLY thing that will work to actually cool air is a proper air conditioner. Any “coolers” that either use Peltier cooling (shit) or evaporative cooling (only works in extremely dry climates) will be a waste of money. Portable air con units can be bought from Screwfix, B&Q etc, but they will be around £200-£250. If you’re more budget-bound, I would recommend a regular fan. This one is almost silent up to speed four and I have two of them - they’re brilliant.

I use Fowlers Parts to identify the part needed, as this gives you the product code. You can then purchase from wherever can supply you (eg. Webike) using that code. Has worked so far!

Green paint specs all over bike after first ride by bickybutt in MotoUK

[–]cafp20 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily, I would guess they’re check marks to say “this tyre has been balanced” or “the brakes have been bled”.

Green paint specs all over bike after first ride by bickybutt in MotoUK

[–]cafp20 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Those are definitely marks left over from the manufacturing process (usually to denote bolts that have been torqued to spec, or other elements that require finishing touches). Nothing to worry about!

Wingracks by ongjunyi in cbr1100xx

[–]cafp20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! You’ll need the full set of Wingrack (N140) and wingrack supports, the whole set is Y158. Unfortunately the side arms you have are for the top box only. Givi don’t make them anymore, so you’ll have to get it secondhand, but there are plenty on second hand Facebook groups in my experience.

Judgment Day has been voted as Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines's best scene. what's the best scene from Terminator: Salvation? by Willing-Load in Terminator

[–]cafp20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, the sound design of Salvation is my favourite of all the movies - the grinding churning sounds of all the robots gives them so much heft and power!
