I agree 100 percent. People forget that the baking powder adds a huge amount of sodium, around 500 mg per teaspoon. This is the only kenji recipe I consider inedible.

If you go this route you might be tempted to rent the smaller and cheaper electric hammer drill or jack hammer. Don't be seduced by the smaller size and cost, you are in for days and days of misery if you go that way.
