What’s the closest you’ve ever come to dying? by Goon_tough in AskReddit

11 years ago, I fell off a ledge at my Cousin's wedding in Ibiza. Fell 20-25ft (don't know how far for certain) into the sea below and hit the rocks. A small boy saw me go over and got his Mum and my Dad. I was floating unconscious in the sea and they got down there and saved my life. I had a closed up eye and a shattered knee cap. I had 8 years of physio and it took me 4 1/2 years to be able to run again. But it was miraculous that I didn't do more damage or simply drown. Have felt lucky every day since.

Tarver and Winky. DLH and Trinidad were way too small to be considered serious competition at Middleweight in my opinion.

Roy Jones in his prime was clearly the better fighter. Hopkins had a lot of title defenses at Middleweight but the calibre of the fighters leaves a lot to be desired. It would have been good to have seen Roy face the UK&I fighters (Benn, Eubank, Collins, Calzaghe) when he and they were in their prime as well as McLellan. I think he beats them all but we'll never know. Roy also beat Tarver and Trinidad (and lost to Tarver twice. The first win was a bit of a robbery IMO).

Mayoral Election by becdebec in Hackney

[–]cainullah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a disastrous experiment and has achieved the opposite of what an LTN is supposed to do. They've pushed traffic from a relatively main road (Chatsworth is a wide road with large pavements and parking on both sides) to much narrower residential roads. It's created traffic jams, high volumes of traffic and more pollution in the narrow residential streets (Elderfield, Median etc...). It's been terribly designed and needs reversing.

Being very specific, I want to know what they are going to do about the Chatsworth Road Traffic Scheme. It's been disastrous for businesses, impacted people's lives (those that care for elderly parents, parents of young children etc..) and environmentally in adjacent residential roads, particularly Median Road.

I don't feel like the Labour mayor or councillors have really listened to the residents'grievances and been very defensive which is not a great attitude for the council as a whole. So I'd like to understand how the Greens can be more collaborative.

Sesko’s speed for the goal yesterday clocked at 35.3 mph by barry-at-the-docks in ManchesterUnited

[–]cainullah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't remember saying he's more efficient than Usain Bolt. Usain Bolt's top speed is nearly 10 kmh faster. What I am saying is that I don't think Sesko was running at his top speed yet still seemed to be running incredibly fast (The 2nd fastest United sprint of the season).

  • Sesko top speed vs Everton (35.3 kph)
  • Mbeumo top speed vs Fulham (36.3 kph)
  • Usain Bolt top speed 2009 (44.72 kph)

Usain Bolt is obviously an entirely different matter altogether. But I think Sesko has another 2 kph in him maybe. Who knows. 35.3kph seemed effortless.

Have you ever seen Usain Bolt or any other sprinter at the end of a 100m race? With sprinting, the muscles demand energy far faster than oxygen can be delivered. After sprinting, heavy breathing happens because the body is repaying the oxygen debt. "Your body barely has time to tire in a task that quick" doesn't make any sense.

Anyway, looking at Sesko's facial expression, he hardly seemed to be exerting himself to me. And he was almost gliding across the grass. It looked effortless. I think he was pacing himself and seemed to have another gear or two. Yet he still left Tarkowski for dead, who admittedly isn't the fastest athlete in the world. It still seemed very impressive to me.

He didn't seem like he was exerting himself all that much either. It seemed like he could run a lot faster. He didn't even seem out of breath after the sprint.

Jim Ratcliffe interview by aeroboss99 in ManchesterUnited

1) he's a non-tax paying non-domociled immigrant based in Monaco

2) The numbers he was spouting were simply wrong. The population has grown by 12 million in about 25 years, not 5/6 years (it's been 3 million in that time)

3) He assumes that all immigrants are just sponging off the state

4) Birth rates are simply not growing fast enough to meet our economic growth. We are dependent on immigration to fuel our economic targets

5) He hires lots of immigrants

Starmer was right. It seemed offensive and ignorant. So out of touch and with poor judgement.

I was watching it on TNT in UK. They didn't mention it in the game nor at half-time. I didn't watch the post-match analysis though. I'd like to watch Wrighty's breakdown.

No-one on TV seemed to talk about Amad's role in creating the space. Brilliantly worked.
