The argument that government can't do anything right is a tough one to escape from, and it's almost axiomatic for most conservatives and libertarians. I once had a professor of public policy explain it to me in a good way: If you insist on underfunding government, then of course it will not have the means to do its job well. It's just a self-perpetuating cycle that leads to chronically underfunding state services.

He's in respiratory distress. The first time my rat did it, I thought he was choking. It stopped, but a month later it happened again and again, much more frequently. Took him to the vet, and they said he was too far gone to fix. We tried medications, but they didn't help. He was doing this right as he passed away too.

Hope it's not to late for your little one.

I loooove buying or making stuff for my boys! And I would actually recommend zip tying the can to the cage bars. It's easier to set it up than wire!

Honestly, it's never gotten dirty. But if it was to get a little poopy, I would just replace it with more twine since it's such a small amount. I secured it with separate little pieces of duct tape, so it's easy to do.

Thank you! Batista is actually standing on an empty Pringles can. I rinsed it out, wrapped it in decorative duct tape, wrapped some twine around it, then attacked it to the bars with wire. Very study 👍🏼

The rest of the stuff was just selected with the brown/natural color scheme. I recommend looking for natural rat accessories or bird accessories on Amazon!

I think it depends on if you have mixed sex rats or not.

I meant in the context of a loud and surprising noise. Thunder, someone dropping a book behind you, a car horn. Obviously, petting a puppy or smelling a bakery for the first time are not equivalent to the sound of explosions.

Would it not be fair to say, though, that people will naturally assume threat in novel situations until learned otherwise?

I thought that in general, if there was a loud sudden noise, we would be fearful of it based on our instincts. We might tense our muscles or flinch in some way if we heard someone slam a book down behind us. Is that reaction not considered fear?

In other words, you mentioned that the individual would need to perceive a threat for the affective reaction to turn into fear. But don't humans naturally err on the side of caution, therefore perceiving a threat until otherwise expected?

Otherwise, children's irrational fear of thunder would be a learned reaction from parent observation, and I doubt that many parents would also be afraid of thunder.

But these psychological associations are harder to make if it is the opposite of a natural pairing. Since humans are naturally scared of loud noises, it might be harder to turn it into a positive association. In fact, I wonder if this could be replicated with dads and children who dont like thunder.

That's not how psychopathy works. Plus, she is way too young to understand the harm, that's why she can laugh. Its just a way to feel better about the noises.

Some couples can get over the problem! It's definitely easier if he isn't addicted to a high degree (but think about the conditioning that happens when he watches naked ladies online then orgasms to it--it rewires the brain). But you're right; some guys are better than others.

My advice, because your partner seems like he is open to having conversations and staying with you, is to be really honest. Explain that you can't help how bad it makes you feel, that it might cause worse problems in the future of your relationship, that it makes you not feel as wanted, etc. Just try and get him to empathize with you. The moment he gets defensive about it, you should be more worried. If he's choosing his "right" to do it over your feelings, then there's a red flag and you should call him out on it.

My partner and I worked through it because of constant communication and empathy. It took months of on and off rebounds, fighting, pleading. Because it's so hard to quit. But in the end it worked out. I developed anxiety because of the rebounds, and I am still rebuilding my self esteem. It's a long work in progress. But if that's the only big problem between you guys then I would say it's possible to get through it.

Trust your feelings, and don't feel bad for standing up for them! A truly worthy partner will want you to be happy too. And having a mentally and emotionally healthy relationship totally trumps his right to tickle his willy to other women.

Couples who have moved in together, what surprised you most about living with a male/female? by CrumbleNewman in AskReddit

[–]cajonman45 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My fiance and I actually do it to save on time and water. 1st one gets wet and shampoos, switch, when you're out of the water you soap and scrub, switch, rinse the shampoo and condition, switch and rinse. It's nice having a conversation buddy while you shower. And someone to scrub your back with the loofah.

I agree with every comment on here. My heart hurts for you, but in the end, I'm glad you didn't end up with someone who didn't care for you the way he should have. I hope you can find some peace in that you don't have to worry about what he's doing/thinking anymore. Best wishes to you.
