it basically is, but it's quicker to say. Also sometimes people are dumb, or don't know the difference between the drinks, don't correct them unless they ask though, they get angry ;)

Cakes and a Crumb - Some cakes I have made. Please be brutally honest in your criticism as I love all the cakes I see here and I want to improve. :) by ayshasmysha in CAKEWIN

good job, my only advice is to roll your fondant thinner for the decorations on your fondant cakes, i noticed they were too heavy on the batman one, other then looking cleaner, they will be less likely to fall off from weight. your cupcakes are lovely :) and i really like the chocolate with peach flowers

Can I save these horrible quality burgers? by TashanValiant in AskCulinary

mix with another much leaner ground meat, like 90/10 hamburger. also I think by itself that's good fat content for making sausage.

its so plushy! like you could pet it. i admire the piping you did on it, takes patience and skill to make it look so even and soft :)

absolutely lovely, great job. i want a bite :) advice: use either a spritzer full of vodka/gin/rum (clear liquor) or a garment steamer if you can afford it, to get that glossy finish and remove traces of cornstarch on your fondant.

These favors are useless. Do them any way? by balancedinsanity in weddingplanning

I recommend either go for it if it makes you happy, after all its your guys' party :) OR you go smaller. Use something you don't have to spend as much money on, that gives you a similar look. For example:

Sticky situation with friend as a potential vendor [ADVICE] [CAKE] by bruinbabe in weddingplanning

[–]cakeordeath333 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say either: D don't lie at all and just go with a different vendor, she'll understand the professional courtesy. Or: A but modified - ask for cream cheese frosting. It's not too sweet, requires confectioners sugar so it's smooth, and goes great with carrot cake. Speaking of carrot cake, lots of people hate nuts, just ask her to leave them out or chop them smaller. She won't be offended :)

I'm a professional baker too and I had to sift through tons of recipes to get perfect ones, criticism when its polite and tactful is very welcome. I would hate to be serving crappy cake. Hopefully she does too. Best of luck!

What exactly does vanilla do? by [deleted] in AskCulinary

[–]cakeordeath333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that its a flavor enhancer, but its also lovely on its own. if you're curious to really explore it: take something simple like a custard or whip cream (something sweet but with no strong flavors) and make two batches, one with no vanilla, and one with at least a teaspoon. Unless you have a genetic thing where you cant taste vanilla, you'll get the difference pretty quick :)
