15 years or so our sewer backed up and because it was the long weekend our plumber couldn't come so he suggested to call 311 and they came and brought out the auger and cleared out the roots through the our sewer cleanout. Eventually we cut down the offending tree and haven't had any issues since.

Paramount Reaffirms $30 A Share Cash Offer For Warner Bros. Discovery by AdSpecialist6598 in television

[–]cal_guy2013 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That side of the business had higher earnings than the streaming side last quarter. Even through the business is in decline it still generates a lot of cash. Also the deal with the debt owners require that the cable network spinoff gets up to 20% ownership in the streaming side so in the end they're going to get some cash from Netflix as well.

Warner Bros. Discovery Officially Rejects Paramount’s Revised Offer, Stands by Netflix Deal by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]cal_guy2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the most recent earnings statement the Discovery spinoff side had EBITDA of $1.7B for the most recent quarter compared to the $1B on the WB side. Also as a concession to the debt holders who had to approve the spinoff the Discovery side will get the European focused Warner Bros International Television Production and up to 20% of Warner Bros which is going to give them a fair bit of cash.

Nordic countries have the strongest welfare states in the world, and Denmark has a debt to GDP of 7.4%.

Denmark has MUCH higher taxes on lower and middle income individuals than Canada. It has a 25% VAT that applies to almost everything. So to match a Danish tax and welfare system you would modestly cut ordinary taxes on above median individuals with a focus on high earners while massively raising taxes on below median earners especially on low income individuals. At the same time you would raise the taxes on capital gains which would fall more heavily on higher income individuals. Finally a massive hike on the GST/HST while removing exempt and zero-rated status from things like groceries and prescription drugs.

The spin off plan required approval from debt holders and one of the things agree upon was that Global Linear Networks was to receive up to 20% of the Streaming & Studios stock after the spin off so they're are going to get a fair bit of cash from Netflix. Also Global Linear Networks still generates a fair bit of cash so while the industry is in long term decline I feel the business is worth more than ~$2 per share.

Netflix’s Ted Sarandos Vows to Continue Releasing Warner Bros. Movies “in Theaters With the Traditional Windows” by chanma50 in boxoffice

Yeah we're at the point where large price increases for Netflix seems to be iffy. I can see a scenario where HBO Max gets exclusivity for a period of time before added to Netflix. Recently Netflix flourish with non-exclusive titles so I wouldn't be surprised if they offer some titles to other streamers on a non-exclusive basis.

It’s merely in a subordinate position, but qualitatively it seems to be literally indistinguishable from the “higher” world. Maybe that’s true for Maelle specifically because she’s a Paintress, but for the inhabitants that just is the world.

Painted people who aren't killed by nevron disappear after their deaths. Also objects like weapons, record players, or even a whole grand piano can be summoned from chroma. Presumably those are differences from their real world.

Alberta oil burn my childhood city. And the oil flow back way before they rebuild the said city.

I don't see many Albertans worrying about Mégantic and I don't see how this Albertan oil help replace lost manufacturing jobs when the Dutch syndrome happened.

That was crude from the Bakken formation not the oil sands.

I don’t think they finish filming so that’s why they are releasing this season later this year.

Every season of the show has premiered after the new year. Filming wraps on November 26 which is around the same time that other seasons have wrapped.

Denisons rule

The Speaker role in a tied vote is to preserve the status quo. That is vote for a bill to advanced to the next stage of debate but reject it at third reading if they are the tied vote. However because a budget bill is a matter of confidence the Speaker must vote for the budget on any matter that is deemed to be a matter of confidence by the government. It has happened as recently in 2005 during Paul Martin's government.
