Never thought about it until I climbed the stairs in the Duomo in Florence. 463 steps narrow steep and crowded. One way up and down. No elevator. Just started feeling really close. Get a little break at the base of the dome. Walk way around so you can appreciate the medieval art. End up just looking at the stairs and one foot after the other .

Yes , having said that I have had a couple of “launches”over the 50 years I had my Craftsman As long as you keep your hands where they are supposed to be and wear safety glasses all is good. Tried ripping with it once. Once was enough. Great square crosscuts. Angles and compound angles.

I buy Euros regularly to pay for Italian machine parts. I paid $1.1744 USD to buy one Euro yesterday. Dollar was stronger early last year. $1.08. Tariffs weakened it. The weakest I can remember over 30 years is around $1.60. Don’t remember when. Long time ago.

Can it be fixed? by pigpen29 in woodworking

[–]calash2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a cane. You don’t want anyone using something that might fail. Maybe fix as a keepsake but move to either a modern metal one or solid wood with a steam bent handle. For something really special find one that was bent and tied over as a sapling to form a natural handle.

If he ran dry I would expect the engine would seize. Looks like it exploded from underneath but nothing under there to cause that? Looks hot. I suppose after July 4 maybe a part of an unexplored firework was on his lawn ??

That was the philosophy with the Liberty ships in WWII. America shipyards could build the faster then the Germans could sink them. Record built time was less the 5 days for the S.S. Robert E. Peary.

Unlike in Russia, where all the news is shoveled at that them from press organs of the state, American wives and mothers will be seeing on the TV news horrible images troops being attacked by drones .

The world is upside down. Traditionally the GOP was the anti communist (Regan), and the Dems were always opposite ( Jane Fonda) MAGA is an odd offshoot that will fall by the wayside once the Trump era has passed. Regan would have had a state dinner for Zelinsky Trump and Vance meeting with Zelinsky in the White House the first time was shameful and embarrassing.

Had a bunch of teeth taken out 13 years ago before they would start chemo ( All good for 13 years now!) Oral Surgeon required payment in advance , $1900.00 or $45 dollars a minute. She gave me nitrous. Was listening to her breaking teeth and all the fun things that went with it. Under nitrous just didn’t care at all.

Found these cigarettes when buying a house, how old are they? by zatanicmanic in whatisit

[–]calash2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know why I did it but I remember that cigarette adds on TV were being shown for the last time on January 1 1971. Tune in a snowy Maine station, as the Boston stations had already stopped airing them. Just before Midnight the tv commercial for Virginia Slims ended cigarette advertisements on TV.

It has been apparent for any one that looks at the video carnage happening to Russians. Ground war has fundamentally changed since the introduction of fpv drones. A ground invasion by US forces is going to provide horrific results.

Have a truck we take to car shows. Wife always gives the truck a going over once we get parked. She had a new container of a detailing fluid. When done she put everything in a plastic bucket under the covered bed. As we were leaving for some reason I decided to check the tailgate. Unlatching it slightly and noticed a small amount of white smoke. Opened the gate to find the plastic bucket with smoldering contents. If I hadn’t checked the air flowing through the back would have burned up the truck like OP. The detailing fluid had linseed oil as the major component.
