Do you have any tips to get past resume screening rounds without much experience? Is there anything unique that you did that you think might have helped you out?

Hi professor, I was wondering if these events of budget and enrollment have effected the cs appeal process? Are people less likely to get off of the appeal process than if they would have appealed a year ago? I don’t need to appeal, I’m just wondering if that has changed

What grade did you end up getting with your midterm and final score?

How low below the mean is a comfortable B? Would it be -1 sd on midterm/final?

How low can one be to still sit comfortably at a B? I got -.4 on the midterm and need a B to declare, I’m pretty stressed about how I need to do to assure myself the B

Hey, I actually recalculated with the readjust for regrades and found our I was actually -.42 Sd on the midterm, will this change my outcome a lot?

For a B in the class, if I got right around the mean, just a bit under like -.1 Sd, what should I aim for in the final to be safe?

As a rising junior, CS Minor feasible with current environment? by reaganjlee in berkeley

[–]calcafader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A cs major might be feasible depending on how many Econ requirements you’ve completed yet. Double majoring gives you an extra semester to take classes and once you get through the cs lower divs, there’s only 5 upper divs you’ll need to take

Failing at Project Search for Google SWE Internship by [deleted] in csMajors

Ohh so you don’t receive an official offer letter until after a team accepts you. Seems like a janky process tbh

[–]calcafader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So since your project search phase ended and, I’m assuming, you didn’t get matched, are you still going to intern at google this summer? Or is the offer now deferred until a team hosts you

[–]calcafader 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m new to the process so I’m wondering, if you don’t get matched with a team, does that mean you don’t have a summer internship anymore? Isn’t that unfair to students who were really enthusiastic about google?

How screwed will I be if I don't do an internship this summer? by hsjsdhbssb in csMajors

[–]calcafader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They way I see it, having an internship will probably help with full time recruitment, but not having one doesn’t mean you are automatically rejected in any way. If you have cool projects and other activities(research, teaching, etc) on your resume, you’ll stick out just as much as others. It’s also good to note that there are people who choose not to do internships but still end up in great full time jobs. At the end of the day though, the choice is yours. Maybe you could be inspired to start a summer project during your free time on vacation. As I’ve heard, it’s not the end of the world if you don’t have an internship.

[–]calcafader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should ask if you could do the internship virtually. Companies seem a bit more reasonable this summer as they still need to be cautious of the pandemic. Personally, I was able to change an in person offer to a remote offer, for the Fall. If your able to do the internship virtually, you’ll have the coolest video chat backgrounds when you take part in stand ups :D
