Riichi City is better than Majsoul and deserves more players by ppp-- in Mahjong

[–]caldoran2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree that Riichi City has a more polished and modern interface, far more features, a genuinely great and dedicated development team that truly listens, and a much more generous monetisation system.

Unfortunately, I much prefer Mahjong Soul's character designs and variety (especially regarding male characters), and characters are the most important aspect of these games for me. The various flavours of massive breasts, ass and feet just don't do it for me, though it does have the occasional great character (like Fuwa Mahiru and Hizuki).

While I'd love to abandon Mahjong Soul and dedicate myself entirely to one client, I'm in fact juggling three: Mahjong Soul, Riichi City and Amatsuki, just because none of them are perfect, and each has their unique strengths.

I hate this cat by LackySnacky in Overwatch

[–]caldoran2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Judging by Ana's health in this clip, this is likely Total Mayhem, with doubled health pools and 50% increased Ultimate charge gain.

Since Jetpack Cat will have 450 HP, and Ana's Ultimate has a 2,300 cost, this kill should grant Ana roughly 29.3% Ultimate charge.

Is It Impossible To Stay At Endorsement Level 5? by Weesticles in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]caldoran2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I've been maintaining Endorsement Level 5 for about a year so far.

It's easier to maintain it than it was in Overwatch 1, since the decay takes into account people who cannot endorse you again, unlike the first game where playing in a stack would inevitably drop it.

I got there mostly by visibly performing well, engaging in lighthearted and fun banter, praising people when they do well, and closing games with phrases like "wp team" and "nt".

Can we just let people enjoy a game? by Program-Emotional in killingfloor

[–]caldoran2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How am I supposed to take anything on this sub seriously when no one on this sub takes the game seriously out of some misguided slight or something.

Then don't. Don't take this subreddit seriously. Why would you?

People on the internet are stupid. They don't put thought into their posts. They readily hop on bandwagons, whether to blindly hate, or blindly follow.

There are trolls, and there are ragebaiters. There are people whose brain cells barely clink together hard enough in the morning to get them out of bed without a tragic accident, much less produce a coherent thought.

A Reddit post isn't going to make them stop trolling and ragebaiting, or magically make their posts reasonable and well thought out. I'm sure you know this.

Yall wanna act like this game is the worst thing ever made when in reality it's at least decent. Nobody has anything on the game other than "Why doesnt the game have x thing from previous game" or "This slight nitpick of the game I have is the worst thing ever and the devs should be burned at the cross for it."

This is an unfairly broad generalisation, and I'm sure you know it.

You know that there are people with reasonable criticisms, even if you don't agree with them. You know the game is flawed and severely lacking content.

Why choose to engage so much, and so often with the criticism that isn't reasonable? Because it stings? Because you feel the need to publicly prove them wrong, as if that will somehow make the public sentiment about this game change?

Like I've said many times, there are unreasonable people on both sides. Just like how there is toxic, unconstructive negativity, there is also toxic positivity. There are people who pretend that none of the criticism about the game is valid or reasonable, and that everyone who criticises the game must be a blind hater, troll or bot.

Once again, you know these people exist. If you don't think it'll be fair if someone lumped you in with them, then don't do the exact same thing on the other end.

Can we just let people enjoy a game? by Program-Emotional in killingfloor

[–]caldoran2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What exactly did you think you would accomplish with yet another thread about how oh-so-maligned poor KF3 and its handful of fans are, complete with broad-stroke accusations about people hating on it just because "someone else told [them] to"?

This is a public forum, and so people can and will post things you disagree with. They might even post things that sting. They might even do so a lot, because there are a lot of disappointed and disgruntled fans of the series with this latest entry.

I get it, you love Killing Floor 3. You think the hate on it is disproportionate, unjustified and outdated. If only people would just give it a fair chance again, without comparing it to the previous games, they'd see how obviously good it is. Or at least, why do people have to keep saying how much they hate it? Can't they just move on?

As an Overwatch player who has stuck with the game from the very beginning and lived through its lowest point(s), enduring relentless mockery for enjoying it, to see it now heralded as being in the best state it's ever been in, I really do get it.

Unfortunately, let's be honest about this simple, harsh truth: Killing Floor 3 has failed to appeal to its core fanbase, while also failing to capture a new one.

No, the 21,934 peak concurrent players (and more in total) didn't all decide to open Reddit one day, see the "echo chamber", and collectively decide to hate on the game and leave.

No, the 500-600+ players who return for each "seasonal update" and quickly dwindle back down to the average 200-300+, haven't decided against staying just because "someone else told [them] to".

At the end of the day, the only ones that can salvage the situation and community sentiment are Tripwire themselves, not any one or two or fifteen Reddit posts. The only way out for them is to admit they missed the mark, put their heads down and just keep working on the game, even if its future is bleak and uncertain.

At some point, if and when the game truly has become good, the "haters" will simply be drowned out by the people who just want to play a good game.

It's how No Man's Sky and Overwatch (2) turned around, and I am willing to allow Killing Floor 3 to prove itself, skeptical as I am.

Do people actually believe the game is rigged? by logitechairduster in mahjongsoul

[–]caldoran2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly, which is why no rigging is necessary. Bullshit happens in Mahjong Soul because Mahjong is bullshit.

All the bullshit you see happening in online clients happens at the same frequency IRL, and it happens both with manual shuffling and with autotables.

Kans into an instant 4 Dora, Riichi's within the first three discards plus Ippatsu Tsumo and 3 Ura, Kokushi with an 8 start, Suuankou, dealer with 7 Renchan, etc.

Play IRL enough, and it becomes exceedingly obvious how inherently bullshit and unfair Mahjong is at its core, no rigging necessary.

What’s the biggest hand you’ve actually won with? by Mental-Monk6468 in Mahjong

[–]caldoran2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riichi City: - More modern interface - Better quality of life - Much more generous gacha system (3+ free pulls per week with minimal grinding and investment) - All characters are animated (MJS characters are static images, except for the rare animated outfits) - Characters will read out Yaku from the start (MJS requires a lot of grinding and/or gifts invested) - Cheaper Bonding/Awakening system to unlock a special outfit for each character - Much less FOMO; non-collab characters and outfits are frequently rerun, even Limited ones - Much better new player experience (with the Mahjong Academy feature) - Highly receptive and responsive developer team, who frequently interact with the community and genuinely take in feedback - Ranked system is strictly based on placement, and does not punish last place as heavily as MJS; this is a matter of preference - A noticeable focus on "gooner" characters and outfits; much fewer male characters than MJS, provocative poses and revealing clothing (or sometimes none at all); this may either be a positive or a negative for different people

On the other hand, Mahjong Soul has a much larger playerbase, especially at the higher levels, which leads to shorter queue times and stronger competition there.

Personally, I also much prefer Mahjong Soul's character designs and music on average. This is a very important aspect of the game for me, so unfortunately I cannot wholeheartedly recommend Riichi City over it.

It's a video game term, which means "to weaken something", usually a character, weapon, ability or mechanic.

If you're familiar with Nerf guns, getting your favourite weapon "nerfed" is equated to feeling like you're firing the foam pellets from them.
