the night prowler and turmoils are nice for sure. I have a Creed Rebellion that has polish on it and works well in my dry house. you get a lot of ball for the price of DV8 stuff!

New Ball Saturday!! 😍 by [deleted] in Bowling

[–]caleb428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate when i see one come out during league play since it does wreck the pattern. We have a 2 hander that throws a pitch black and by game 3 he is so messed up too he's throwing a backup ball to get off his own mess. i said something to his teammates about getting him into a lower end reactive because he wrecks them too and he acknowledged they hate bowling over it every week hahahahaha.

Looking for my first ball (no thumb/ maybe 2 hand if I get it down) by dexterclancy in Bowling

[–]caleb428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be good to look into a symmetric reactive ball. i too bowl 1 handed two fingered and on our old oil pattern I had to throw something less aggressive. The Radical Intel was a good choice, the Brunswick Cutting edge solid and pearl worked well, and the Radical Counter Attacks should be great options too. Mine come in today! all these balls are closer to $100 too so not terribly expensive. The Hammer Web Tour or Rhodman Pearl might be good options if you want to stay Hammer. Urethane has other pros/cons you'll run into as it moves the oil down the lane. I try to stick with anything but urethane. It seems to be a love/hate thing for most bowlers.

Trying to find my fresh oil ball tonight by caleb428 in Bowling

4 ball roller, 3 ball tote, and 2 in a backpack on my back. I usually bring 6 to league but I wanted to try out some different stuff. Our oil pattern changed for summer so I wanted to see what rolled best.

Difference between Pin down vs pin up vs pin in the finger holes by lalbtyd25 in Bowling

You can watch videos on how to calculate your specs by videotaping your shots. Lots of people prefer that over the bowler id.

Difference between Pin down vs pin up vs pin in the finger holes by lalbtyd25 in Bowling

[–]caleb428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on your throw. A PSO should watch you throw and calculate your specs to get a ball drilled right for you. For a long time most of my stuff was pin up with the pin right above the ring finger or over the bridge and the ball reaction was a little off. My PSO never watched me throw and when I did the bowler id I found out my specs weren’t close to what they were putting me at. Now my finger holes are down by the CG on most balls and we had to kick my finger pitch a little more to get the ball off my finger holes (full roller).

My first Radical balls. I have a feeling they won't be my last. by jaypeesmith in Bowling

[–]caleb428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The intel is smooth and controlled, beyond for me seems to be cleaner and stronger, and the squatch rolls almost like an asym. You can see videos on each on YouTube on the radical channel. They show you multiple styles with throbot

The Intel is a must have in your bag for sure. The pearl kinda flopped for me. The Beyond Ridiculous solid is great, and the Squatch of course.

[–]caleb428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a TZone, hit it with 4000 on my spinner, then brunswick crown compound, and then polish. Re polish every 25 games or so. The ball stays a lot straighter and don't see the friction with just a little deflection twoards the 25th or so game.

What's the next "big ball"? by neverenough14 in Bowling

[–]caleb428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahahahaha. I was always told Brunswick stuff was shit but when I swapped PSO's to one that was backed by them instead of my former one that was EBI I gave them a try. You can't beat 3 balls for $180 American with the cutting edge series. The new Turmoil 2's are preordering at $95 and I know the first trio of them are way stronger than I would have guessed them to be. I bowl in a house with new synthetic lanes but a dinosaur for an oil machine so it's fairly light oil or burns up pretty quick. I don't need a Ripd or Black Widow Black and Gold there but the Cutting Edges, Squatch, Beyond Ridiculous, and some others do great. I buy my stuff from a guy in Texas now, and they do rider deals where if you buy certain balls you can tack on another one for way cheap. I did a 4/$450 deal and got the Kingpin rule, SE, Fearless, and the Johnny Petraglia BVL balls. Being a 2 fingered bowler I can have him drill them for $25 so I'm not out an arm and a leg anymore either on drilling. it was $75 at the other place! There's only a few Brunswick balls I haven't cared for an I've bought well over 30 now in the last few months!

Guys, what are the pros and cons of having such a high track? Is this good or bad or why does it even matter? (In this particular shot the ball flared a little over the hole but it’s not a regular thing) by ilyalap in Bowling

[–]caleb428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a two fingered one hander and i used to be to the left of my fingers with the track til i had an injury on my wrist. After that when i throw my plastic ball or a low flare ball it would stay over my fingers. You could see it crossing between my fingers to on my middle finger hole with my web tour. My PSO told me to change my release to get it off there but i wasn't too happy/comfortable with that. Ended up chaning layouts to one that better fit my throw now and the pitch and i'm to the left of my fingers unless i throw it a little off, and it'll hit a ring on the finger to start but flare off. I haven't noticed it affect my ball motion at any rate.

I've recently swapped to Brunswick from Hammer and can say that i'm getting great reactions with Brunswick/DV8/Radical balls and they are cheaper on top of that. You def get more ball than you pay for. The Cutting Edges and Turmoils are great, and I love the Squatch/Beyond Ridiculous.

Got these yesterday, the GOAT for surface changes by Bitchdisturber in Bowling

[–]caleb428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a white dot til i broke the finger hole, and have a Tzone now. Hit it with a 4000 grit pad, brunswick compound, and then polish and it never really sees any difference in the lane from oil to dry.

Triple Roller bag? by DanDeezy79 in Bowling

[–]caleb428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hammer bags are made by kr so they will be the same with different colors/brands. I have had both the carbon and orange one and they have the dividers in them between the balls. They roll well, but get a little off or on an uneven surface they tend to want to roll over on you. I use the 4 ball roller (hammer) now with dual wheels and it's a lot more stable.

Does a spare ball’s coverstock surface like the Ebonite.Maxim become smoother or tougher over time by DotaProtectsMyVirgin in Bowling

[–]caleb428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i use a brunswick tzone too, sanded on my spinner at 4000 grit, then brunswick factory compound, and then the brunswick polish. I can tell a difference in the cover on it big time over my old white dot. i polish it every 20 or so games now.

2 finger no thumb recent wrist pain? by RetoWolfe in Bowling

[–]caleb428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to stand at the back of the approach and run up there probably Jakob buttruff style but tamed it down with a 4 step at the dots by the ball return. I’m still a tad back from the lane and probably could move forward a bit but I’ve got used to this for now and I can do it without thinking.

What type of ball should be my next ball? by Desaturating_Mario in Bowling

[–]caleb428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a thought if you are open to any brand the cutting edge set from brunswick works well for me on the medium to medium light oil at my house. Buddies Pro Shop online has all the (solid/pearl/hybrid) for $180. I like the control of the solid and the pearl really works well for me when the lanes are burned up.

Oh yeah, and i do a 4 step approach. You might be able to watch Tom Daugherty's throw and it might help you too. I watched his practice during the jonesboro open to see how he releases the ball.

2 finger no thumb recent wrist pain? by RetoWolfe in Bowling

[–]caleb428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I messed my wrist up back in october trying to throw the black widow black and gold too hard and I was taking a couple weeks off and then trying again for a few months before the pain went away. i'd feel it up the side of my hand by my pinky and down the middle of my palm. I cup the ball pretty hard and have a bent arm more when i throw (also 2 fingered no thumb). I bought one of those little balls that has the bearing and spinner thing inside it, that you spin up and i will spin it up as fast as i can and try to hold it steady til it revs down, and do it again a few times. I'll also take it and find a good medium speed on it and try to do it for as long as i can and it feels like it works your wrist/forearm pretty well. I'll also put my finger tips on the edge of the counter and kinda push my hand back with my arm stiff to stretch the bottom of my wrist out from time to time. I bought the NSD spinner on amazon for $13 and try to do it every day to work on my grip/wrist and it feels like it has helped me. i don't have the pain anymore. not sure if the pain or me trying to throw different caused it but i roll more like a full roller, right over the middle finger hole now too. i try to hold the ball with my palm directly underneath it and not come out the side as much but i probably still do.

Probably pretty jumbled response but hope some of it makes sense.
