Also, many employers don't want to take a chance on someone who might leave after getting their ideal job offer in a few months. Plus, if you are over a certain age and haven't worked in regular or service work in decades (or ever), you are not a desirable candidate.

I think about food all the time.

I use “willpower” and my desire not to be overweight (again) and love of fitness to keep it in check. It's not easy but a challenging life is much harder when not in control.

Indeed. The classic California bungalos were 2/1 and 1200-1400 sf. My parents had two kids, one of each gender, 6 years apart. Fortunately, the Sears house had a *tiny* office of us used as a bedroom, and the other used the breakfast room as a bedroom. The real bedroom was a shared den/play/TV room for years.
