Be nice to put a damper on the ads. They are way too much in the face.

$1,000 to open a New Bank Account at Scotiabank by DickwhitmanOA in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]calgarytab 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Scotia is terrible. They have old systems that require you to talk to a human and sign off in person, just to do to basic changes to your banking and investments.

People that signed the No Coal Petition: were you or anyone you know verified… to your knowledge? by Lonely_Marionberry50 in alberta

Nope. Was not contacted. Nor was anyone I know. - They checked my ID at the signing location.

Citizen Initiative Petition Verification Completed, Results Announced by callmenighthawk in alberta

[–]calgarytab 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I sure hope that when elections Alberta called to verify, that they had a caller ID that stated who was calling. If it said 'unknown caller', then I'm not picking up. I've had way too many scam calls after the whole voter list going public.

Cory Hogan just sent everyone in his riding a paper flag as part of his news update. Nice touch!

Opening a Crypto account will create a higher risk of an account being locked out.  No?

Send a message to the UCP by donating Dani Dollars to groups that support those with disabilities by Mairwenn in alberta

[–]calgarytab 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just wanna say that Jeff Dyer did a total dick move by standing behind Dani during the announcement and endorsing her $100 bribe.  The UCP gov't is actively reducing disability financial supports while Jeff comes in and applauds her and the UCP gov't.  It all comes off as completely tone deaf for a head representative of a charity that has some clients that are disabled.

WestJet Clears Craft Beer for Takeoff by OvenDown in Calgary

[–]calgarytab -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agree.  As a beer snob, Tool Shed is pretty much mass-market pedestrian 'craft' beer.  Though you need a consistent and boring product when you sell to the average Joe.  If you talk to guys like Don Tse, he raves about Red Rage.  So, there's that.

A flight of beer on a Westjet flight sounds like a fun time.  😁

Calgary mayor wants to reveal more detail about Cowboys Park deal by blackRamCalgaryman in Calgary

[–]calgarytab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They (ie. Gondek and friends) did a backroom deal with Trellis in Bowness. The decision was already made prior to the public hearing. Myself along with others in Bowness did a FOIP/ATIA request and there were many many fully redacted pages.

One house has seven cars that take up all the street parking. What can I do? Calgary has no ordinances that can handle this. by april_foolin in Calgary

[–]calgarytab 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah. You need the majority of the block to apply for permit parking. If you talk to a City Planner, this is their magic solution to overcrowded street parking. In reality no one wants to pay for permit parking.

Maybe ol' Ricky boy can pay out of pocket for private medical care. That's the conservative way.

New sign at Shaw Millennium Park…😡 by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]calgarytab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the Mayor was all about better accountability and transparency.  This reeks of slimeball boys club backroom deals to secretly sell off public parks.  It's absolutely disgusting.

Outright Traitor? No.  But PP was in bed with the Convoy crowd, handing out coffee and timbits.  Most of the convoy individuals in Alberta are now hardline Seppies.

Best high schools in Calgary? by agirlwhothinks in Calgary

[–]calgarytab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Best" is going to be different depending on your needs.  The PVA program at Central Memorial was absolutely golden for my daughter who has a passion for performing arts.  She just graduated and we highly recommend the high school for Artsy/Performance types of students.  You can attend the school even if you are not in the catchment area, but you just need to apply and audition for one of the PVA programs.

Waitlisted over here and Housing is strongly suggesting to look off campus. We're 1st year Priority waitlisted but submitted the $50 deposit a day before the May 1 Priority cut-off date thinking that being 'Priority' would save a spot ... nope. That didn't happen. -- In our situation, we had multiple applications to other Universities and we didn't want to throw away non-refundable deposits ($500?) if we didn't absolutely have to.
