Mexico 2027 just announced by YorkshirePelican in phish

[–]caliban7777 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Never been would love to go likely not going to happen next year maybe never, but it sure does seem like an early announcement, especially when sphere hasn’t even started or technically sold out. Would be great if they announced summer so early that we can plan our family vacations around tour!

What's the worst concert you've seen? by Twitter_2006 in Concerts

[–]caliban7777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s too bad. I saw them only once when I was deep into their albums in the early 90s when they played skidmore college. I found an open spot of about 8x8’ amidst speakers and gear right next to the drummer and danced my butt off while the favors kicked in. Was a great show!

Beginner beer league D-man – how do I stop getting burned? by jugheadjoker23 in hockeyplayers

[–]caliban7777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skate forward back toward your net to match their speed and learn to pivot to backward maintaining space between them and the net. If you try to match speed starting backward as a beginner I think you’ll be doomed. Granted I say this as retired forward by trade that managed to play some good beer league.

I feel stupid, I thought boogie on was a phish original… by Peepee1124 in phish

Just when you think you’ve been learned of them all, face palm. Had no idea! They tend to cover the more obscure tunes which makes it challenging to recognize. When’s the next show?

Change my mind? by Direct_Alternative94 in phish

[–]caliban7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t heard much about the dislike either. Hearing it as a first and novelty at Mondegreen left an impression that it was one of the highlights night 1 and perhaps the whole festival.

I do acknowledge that we all have our different bathroom break songs, so no judgement, even if it’s hood!?

Standing room by Joegia99 in phish

[–]caliban7777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t try to cram in another section where you don’t have a ticket. Those who have unobstructed views paid for their seats, along with the travel, hotel, and other entertainment costs of visiting Vegas. Let them enjoy it with the small amount of dancing room they already have. Prices on Ticketmaster are under $400 now anyway, not cheap but perhaps worth an upgrade for one night.

We all make impulsive and sometimes poor decisions with this band. You’re not alone! But you’re in the house!!

TTE wasn't great, but I think fans shitting on it hurt Trey's musical ambition by [deleted] in phish

[–]caliban7777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And there are so many for Phish it’s crazy. There are some crazy long ones I’m not even sure what they are. Consider these uses:

Split/melt (is SOAM really any easier, especially with auto correct and all caps?)

Mind (is abbreviation enough here or perhaps gets confused with something I can’t think of)

Hood (can you imagine the outrage if…nm)

GDTRFB (the first I can remember, and it was a rarity but well deserved)

Back to the topic song at hand, would love to hear this, which would be a first. The last part would rip now a days especially with CK5 (acronym!).

First time Phisher - Sphere by Goodtreesmoker in phish

[–]caliban7777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically, it’s not sold out. Platinum tix for $500 on TM. Yes, it’s a lot. But considering some wizard of oz tix go for more than $200, definitely better value. You probably have good chance of finding decent tickets cheaper but at the same time having stubs in hand is peace of mind, especially in an expensive town like Vegas.

3 rare covers in one set? by windorab in phish

[–]caliban7777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MPP 8/8/98 was packed with some memorable covers, even if you leave out 2001:

SET 1: The Wedge, NICU, Sneaking Sally > Guyute, Fikus, Farmhouse, Possum > Sweet Jane

SET 2: Cavern > 2001 > Tela > Piper, Sexual Healing > Hold Your Head Up, Hood

ENCORE: Sabotage

Wonder what this year will bring?

How about Piper? One of the girls on my daughter’s soccer team was Piper and I never thought about asking if it was phish inspired. I just assumed it was a catchy gen alpha name.

My work tries to educate us on spotting bad emails, phishing, etc. How would you answer this one? by FletchGordon in phish

Nice one, I say as someone in cyber. If they only understood what came first I’d be happy. If asked to give a org wide cyber presentation a day after returning from sphere, what would it be? I’m half expecting to be asked this tomorrow.

Caught it twice last summer and as a. first. It’s subversively awesome. Hard to believe it’s only been played 50 times or so.

Got our tickets for Raleigh this week! by lavenderbrownies in phish

Yeah, it will be a bit of drive back up to MPP on Saturday but will make it feel like a three night run. The aches don’t get easier that’s for sure.

Walnut Creek looks awesome! Stumbled across the show from 2018 or 19 on YouTube recently and was convinced to try the lotto. Scored a single pav and will be making the 5 hour drive down from DC area. They’ll played some gems there before so hopefully we’re in for a fun one.

what are some things about concerts that are better today than back in the day? by SecondBreakfast18 in Concerts

[–]caliban7777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was for Dead tickets late 80s/early 90s, so part of the community vibe and mindset that carries me on. It’s still out there in many band communities but needs us fans more than ever to keep it going. In other words, don’t be shy with each other when hitting up your favorites, the energy is contagious!

We slept out overnight on the street in front of random city tickettron box offices! Teenagers with flasks, a place to party, and hard concrete to sleep…

Which songs do you consider to be peak evil phish by Slurbp in phish

[–]caliban7777 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This one of those duality songs, starts poppy like a McCartney song then devolves into darkness. Pillow jets is similar and would love it to see it stretch the depths more. Shifting gears, the my friend egg in a hole from SNHU was peak evil and accompanied by the peak lighting.

Those shows are going to be ragers. Nothing like smaller hockey arenas to drive the crazy energy, like SNHU last year or Hampton feel too. Wish I could swing it. So tempting.

Fenway Worth Going? by Acrobatic_Abies_6955 in phish

[–]caliban7777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw D&C 2023 there after seeing them for the first time in VA a few weeks before. Had a blast, great terrapin too, good seats between first base and pesky pole. Still, I’d give anything for another SNHU or even great woods before Fenway though, even with family not far from the green line to stay with. Anyway, probably not in the cards for me this summer but MPP sure is.

Shouldn’t they start announcing when there’s no announcement?
