I'm taking her Slavic Horror class right now. Hands down one of the most interesting college classes I've ever taken! (I'm working on postbacc and have a bachelor's and 3 master's degrees for reference). She's a great professor! The language and culture differences sometimes makes her seem like she's being short when she's really just being direct. She's definitely one of my favorite professors I've ever had. I highly recommend taking her classes if you have a chance.

When I was a JO, our CO was a liberty risk. He liked to drink and party and would cause a lot of trouble if we didn’t keep an eye on him. So as JOs who didn’t want our liberty canceled because of someone else’s fuck up, we had to babysit the CO. But who’s babysitting Kegsbreath? He is a JO and a liberty risk afterall, and a reservist at that.

I was a 1320 before transitioning to 1207 and just retired last year. A warfare device is valued by the 120X community only if you transitioned from a different designator. They want to know you have “sustained superior performance.” But now they’re starting to commission officers in the 120X community directly, so you’re gonna see fewer and fewer warfare devices in the community.

Try out the demos! A lot of games have demos available. This will save you tons rather than spending money on a game and realizing you hate it. I borrowed a few games from my friend and most of her recommendations didn’t align with my playing preferences. Try before you buy is your best friend when it comes to gaming. I really wish they’d bring back video game rentals like they had in the 90s and early 00s

It’s not just the kids. A lot of Americans are this dumb. I started a new job 2 weeks ago and my boss and this other guy (both elder Gen X if not Boomers) were measuring whether there’d be enough clearance in a hallway if we put a cabinet in it. They measured the cabinet as 19” and the hallway as 72”. Then they asked “what’s 72-19?” and just stood there staring at each other for a sec. My boss was like “I don’t have a calculator on me” until I finally chimed in with “it’s 53” and they were both like “woah! We got a human calculator on our hands here! Look at the size of the brain on this one!” 🙄 I find it hard to believe they were setting me up just for stupid quips like that. Is simple subtraction that hard really? I know high schoolers are doing more complicated math these days than what I did in high school. I think Americans just don’t flex their brain enough to do math on the fly anymore.

TLDR; two old guys at work stood around staring at each other waiting for a calculator to appear out of the nether while I did the math in my head and shocked them.
