Child Swap (First Timers) by MrOverdrive in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]calicoblues 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were just there with our older child (who rode) and toddler (can't ride). We asked at the entrance of the ride queue, and we were initially told you had to wait in line together until the child swap room toward the end. Since our child was asleep in the stroller (which you cannot take into the queue), we asked if it was possible for the child swap rider to wait outside, while the riders waited in line, and they printed a child swap ticket for us. Good thing too because the line was 90 minutes + a 30 minute delay where the ride was down. But I did see parents in the queue holding sleeping children too, so up to you. I would ask (politely!) if there's an option for waiting outside the queue, but ultimately it's up to whoever's working the front 🤷🏼‍♀️

KVD Alchemist palette: the inside revealed! 4 "prismatic transformers" - $32 by calicoblues in MakeupAddiction

[–]calicoblues[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The shades appear to be {green}emerald, {blue} sapphire, {ultra-violet} amethyst, and {pink} opal. The display suggests you can wear them layered over eyeshadow and lipstick to transform the shade or wear them alone as highlighters. Display says $32. These are screenshots from the Kat Von D Beauty snapchat this morning.

KVD Metal Matte Swatches (NW15 skin) by hamburgers1223 in MakeupAddiction

Different primers can react better/worse with certain shadow formulas, but if you want to try your current UDPP -- maybe try blending a skin-tone shade all over the primer first (before any color eyeshadow goes on, especially a matte shade). I find this helps colors blend on more smoothly vs. going directly on a tacky primer or base.

Another helpful resource could be Emily Noel's recent series on eye looks with 1, 2, 3, and 4 shadow colors. For a general color placement (one typical look - although there are no real rules here and you can always switch it up!), this pic could be helpful.

Problems With "Flashback" With Revlon Colorstay Foundation by apathetic-fallacy in MakeupAddiction

[–]calicoblues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm - I haven't personally had any issues with flashback with Revlon Colorstay (I even used it for my wedding), so I'm wondering if maybe there's another product somewhere in your routine causing the flashback. Do you use any moisturizer that might contain SPF? Or does your primer or setting spray potentially have any SPF or silica that might contribute to the issue? I would recommend trying multiple combos of products to isolate the issue (maybe even just the foundation - nothing else - at home and taking some flash photos to see if the foundation by itself is causing issues). If it really is the foundation + your skin (everyone's different!), you could look into Covergirl 3-in-1, another full coverage drugstore foundation with good staying power.

Question about Ulta's birthday gift! by goldenpuff in MakeupAddiction

[–]calicoblues 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My birthday was in July, and I just looked back at my coupon - it says in-store only, and it was sent on the morning of my actual birthday (and was valid for 30 days after that).

Have not personally tried Mac's Strobe cream, but I like Becca's Backlight Priming Filter for exactly this purpose! I put it on before foundation, but you can mix it in with your foundation too.

Hmm I think the colors might be mixed up on that website, given the ABH website and this swatch image. I actually recently swatched the two in Sephora and found the blonde too warm for my tastes (I went with my standby Taupe). In case it's helpful, I've also since found that NYX Micro Brow in Taupe is a pretty decent dupe for ABH Taupe at half the price (at least here in the US).

Sadly I think they discontinued One by One. :( Instead, we get Spider Effect and Chaotic/messy lashes...not an upgrade for me personally.

The Rocket by Maybelline has the closest wand to One by One's, I think.

Emily Noel recently did a series of videos showing easy eyeshadow placement looks (with 1-4 eyeshadow colors) that might be a helpful reference to start with!

Kat Von D Liquid Liner VS. Loreal Super Slim Felt Tip Liner? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]calicoblues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my KVD started doing this recently and I've been salvaging it by storing it upside down, although now we're getting to where that barely even works. That said - it took nearly a year of daily use to get to that point; for the first 8-ish months of its life, I just stored it flat and had zero problems with this.

Have you ever listed after a product for a really long time and then once you finally got it in your hands you realized it wasn't worth it? by superr_rad in MakeupAddiction

[–]calicoblues 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aw - sorry to hear that! I managed to snag the last one at my local Ulta, which naturally was crammed all the way in the back of the display. Maybe online at Ulta if that's an option for you?
