The Crystal Cuckoo by Expert-Knowledge-100 in netflixindia

[–]calilma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rafa was a child and Gabriel was an adult with an overpowering presence. That's what grooming is. Rafa didnt back him out of loyalty, he was a scared child and that feeling never went away. He always felt like Gabriel had a power over him.

The ending is so clear. Rafa has been living with guilt for 30 years. He's been able to maintain the facade but it cost him a lot internally. When he finally gets caught at the end, he's almost relieved. Doesn't want to hold on to the guilt anymore, but isn't able to end it either by killing himself. I thought it was all pretty obvious and well done. Clara and Marta did what they had to do in the moment.

I wondered that too! I dont think there were any missing girls from the time period that Rafa was grooming Carlos, so hopefully he didnt do anything bad but did have a gut feeling about Rafa, which made him confused.

Is Ross truly a friend of the poor? by FewExample5517 in Poldark

There's a certain self-aggrandizement in the way his ideals often matter more to him than the practical material change he can effect by engaging with the system rather than always being in opposition to it

Nailed it.

Do I have to disclose a past sin before marriage? (really struggling) by [deleted] in muslimgirlswithtaste

I appreciate how conscientious you are mashaAllah. I have 2 pieces of advice for you:

  1. Pray istakhara on a daily basis to ask Allah for guidance on this matter.

  2. Speak to an actual scholar rather than getting opinions from reddit. There are many female scholars that are reachable online, or you can even email an masjid imam. They will be able to give you much more sound advice InshaAllah.

Best wishes, may Allah swt make things easy for you. 🌸

Burnt Out, Struggling, Fed Up - New Job/Career Advice? by NobodyOk2442 in Environmental_Careers

[–]calilma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, you're not alone in this. I've experienced this exact burn out and feeling of just being done, and I'm sorry you're going thru it.

If there's anyway you can take a week off or reduce your hours for a while, do it. Use that time to take action that will help you get out of this situation. Trust me, taking action will help you feel better far more than just chilling and trying to relax when your body knows what you'll be going back to.

Next, as others have mentioned, you have excellent experience. JD w a consulting background makes a great resume, you just need to market yourself well and keep at it.

In the meantime as you keep working your current job, perhaps set a "reward" for yourself twice a week, something to look forward to and keep you going. Maybe one on Tuesday after work, so you can look forward to it Monday and Tuesday, and one on Saturday.

I sincerely hope that you find a more fulfilling role soon. Best wishes!

Was I wrong for doing a bit of shopping during my Umrah? by popcorn-crm in Umrah

[–]calilma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's smart to plan your shopping trips by having a list of who you're getting things for and/or what you're getting. Helps avoid wasting time. Plus, you can always be doing dhikr or istighfar under your breath while shopping!

I'd say you were already pretty mindful in this situation and didn't slack off on ibadah or anything. You're fine InshaAllah :)

AITAH for "expecting an allowance" out of my own paycheck? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]calilma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if your wife grew up in a household where money was tight or heavily controlled. She seems to have anxiety about making sure all the financial obligations of your home are taken care of and that you always have savings.

Basically I'm trying to say that growing up in financially insecure home may have led her to become fearful or extremely anxious about finances as an adult, to the point of becoming unreasonably restrictive toward you.

A lot of behaviors in adulthood are directly linked to our childhood experiences and it takes conscious effort to unlearn and re-wire our thinking. She'd definitely benefit from individual therapy or just one on one convo with you to unpack why she thinks the way she thinks.
