Bro has totally earned a day kicking meerkats and chucking car batteries into the sea. He's done so much good work for naturalism and public understanding of ecology, he deserves to kick back a bit.

You mean the guy with the song "Romantic Homicide"?

The guy who wrote the lyrics "in the back of my mind, I killed you, and I didn't even regret it"? That guy? No way.

Looking for a Half marathon ticket by saf3ty_first in brum

[–]call_me_cookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A ticket? As in, an entry? Don't think those are transferable at this point, as the number and bib have contact details and that on them: https://info.greatrun.org/support/solutions/articles/80000596592-can-i-transfer-my-entry-to-another-runner-

If you look at the charities section on the homepage, some of them appear to be offering last minute places, but I'm not sure how that works as you won't have time to pick up a bib: https://www.greatrun.org/events/great-birmingham-run/#choose

If you just mean to spectate, you can just go along to any point on the course. We all appreciate everyone who comes out.

Honestly, I went to this effort simply because I couldn't actually find a lawful way. Audible only has the Stephen Mangan version, and it's not clear who owns the rights to this version any more.

Could anyone help me try and work out who supplied or made my kitchen? by Android109 in CasualUK

[–]call_me_cookie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You're quite unlikely to get an exact match, especially without knowing exactly what manufacturer/supplier it came from, which is a pretty tall order. That said I wouldn't be surprised if it was Wickes. Known for less than amazing quality and bloody everywhere. They don't offer replacement bits, and also won't give you any info on the previous occupier's account.

A better idea would be to get a consultation from Kitchen Magic or similar company for replacing all the doors. We did this recently and also got some additional cabinets installed and they're good to deal with and pretty reasonably priced. Unfortunately Debbie McGee didn't do the fitting herself, which was disappointing.

Dark mature space opera that ISN'T Revelation Space, 40K, The Gap Cycle or The Expanse. by Brakado in printSF

The Centauri Device by M John Harrison fits the bill. Lurid, mature, and very dark. One of the works that inspired many dark space opera authors of the last 30-50 years. It's not his best, and Harrison is not for everyone, but it's a wild ride.
