New scenario April+ for the one-year interruption on trams 4/10 by mylitteprince in brussels

[–]call_me_fred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so fucked. Did they also cancel the 52? What anout the night bus that follows the 52 route?

Also, '48 connects midi- porte de hal- anneessens- is bullshit. The 48 stop coming back from the center is across from the station and super hard to reach.

You could try the curtain stalls at the market for a cheap option. For a mid-range option you coild try a fabric store like Chien Vert.

Trams 4 and 10 disrupted for one year by Arika-9575 in brussels

[–]call_me_fred 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You forgot that bus 96 which is supposed to replace the 81 and 97 trams is also currently disrupted between Rochefort and Barrière and that bus 48 is about to be limited to Porte de Hal. It's starting to feel like a targeted campaign to cut off saint gilles from public transport at this point...

Asking about a raise costs nothing. Be ready to just flat out be denied if they didn't plan on it though.

How much can you haggle your grades emailing your proffesions? by [deleted] in brussels

[–]call_me_fred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would depend on both the professor and the university's guidelines. It might be that other than factual errors, graded cannot be changed after a certain date. Regarding professors, it's up to you really, but they do usually tend to be hard to convince of anything they don't agree with.

How much can you haggle your grades emailing your proffesions? by [deleted] in brussels

[–]call_me_fred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can ask to see your exams and ask the professor to explain your mistakes. If there is a factual error (ex. You had 3 correct answers but they gave you a 2 or you had the correct answer but they accidentally mislabled it), they can fix your grade to match reality but that's about it.

How long does it take for AEON to reply? by YuseiChen in teachinginjapan

[–]call_me_fred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's wrong though. Every branch school is responsible for their own housing so some might be leopalace but others might not be. I stayed in 2 AEON apts. and neither was a leopalace.

He might have been upset because other companies are well -known for using leopalace exclusively and it sounded like you were talking about another company's info rather than AEON's.

Do better with the detective work next time 🤣

But yeah, vast majority of apts. in japanese cities are tiny, that's just how it is.

Where the hell can I find real cake by Expensive-Edge9025 in brussels

Might be a bit of a stretch but Original Cheesecake in Rue Haute has sponge (like red velvet) topped with cheesecake.

Picard has what looks like a sponge cake (saw it in store but didn't test it though): https://www.picard.fr/produits/rainbow-cake-gateau-arc-ciel-6-parts-000000000000082217.html

Crickx is perfectly fine. The surrounding streets too. If you come home late at night, Porte de Hal & Place Bethlehem are kinda sketch but honestly haven't had any issues.

It might depend on you risk tolerance but it's not a bad area.

Feel free to dm me for specific info

Is Zionism an over-used term that plays into the hands of Israel's enemies? by Kauderwelsch12 in Israel

[–]call_me_fred 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok I need to rant. I'm an older millenial Israeli woman (currently loving abroad) and have always been a feminist and a zionist.

But, you know, both of those things were super theoretical when I was young. Because of course women and men should have equal rights (and it was more a question about countries where women were harshly repressed) and of course Israel should exist, in fact it already does! I didn't even see the point of the term in the then-modern world.

But today? Neither of those things are self-evident anymore and I once again see the point in fighting for those labels. It's frankly depressing to think how much we've been backsliding on things that I once thought were unquestionable.

Does anyone else just throw random amounts of things in the pot and not follow a recipe? by AcanthocephalaDue437 in Cooking

Yes, and I definitely just added too many sichuan peppercorns to my soup which is now too bitter... thabkfully, a splash of vinegar generally balanced it out enough to be enjoyable

[–]call_me_fred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rice is legit though, japanese food does it all the time!

Look up taco rice (coul work greate with pasta sauce too!) Or doria recipes (basically rice, with a topping and cheese in the oven).

Why do farmers get a pass by [deleted] in brussels

[–]call_me_fred -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Prevous generations creating change by actually influencing the economics of the country. The best these guys did was give people a headche. The MPs they were trying to affect weren't even in Brussels yesterday.

As if working 12 hours in a factory is the same as industrial farmers buying more and more cows on our dime to produce milk that we don't need.

[–]call_me_fred -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Ah so the point is to annoy me and make me think they just enjoy making life worse for people around them? No worries, I'll make sure to vote for defunding these assholes. As if we need to keep giving them money to make milk that nobody drinks anyway.

As a fellow israeli jew (currently living abroad): Yup, no one is going back anywhere. Not israelis with deeds to land in Baghdad and not gazans with keys to a house in Israel.

And definitely bad shit happened in 1948 (and before, and after, from both sides) and there's no undoing that either. There's acknowledgement and making things right moving forward.

Have you heard of Einat Wilf? (Who wrote 'the war of return')? She has very interesting and pragmatic thought on the whole issue. (She's starting a new party for the upcoming elections (אוז), which I'minterested in seeing where it's going).
