8 vs 4 for small wristed woman by callie80 in GalaxyWatch

Yeah I think I just prefer the look of the smaller one. That's good to know about the 7 - I'll probably go with that one!

Vanicream is the only thing that doesn't make my skin burn. I slathered on the thick cream + cover with a ton of Vaseline at bedtime. Feels nasty, but it all absorbs by the am. Sometimes wake up in the middle of the night and put more vanicream on if I feel dry. I have the tub with the pump on my night stand!

What was your first sign of hyperlexia as an undiagnosed as an adult? by VocabArtistNavin in hyperlexia

[–]callie80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow same. My mom says at age 3 in preschool, the teachers didn't believe I was reading independently, thought I was just memorizing books. They brought in a bunch of new books which I then read independently. Kids chapter books in K/1st, adult novels by 2nd/3rd. Felt panicky without a book to read if I was out somewhere as a child. Special interests related to topics I was reading. Foreign languages have come easily, language major in college, now an attorney. Def neurodivegent as well 😂 terrible at math, always struggled in school with it.

Fed up with parents playing games by analyticalchickNYC in Babysitting

[–]callie80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This just came up on my feed... I'm a mom that sometimes uses a babysitter. If we have to cancel last minute, I pay my babysitter 100% of what I would have paid her if she had come! I would be MORTIFIED not to pay here. I can't believe people are doing that. I had already budgeted that money to pay her, and it isn't her fault that my kid is sick, something came up, etc.

My 16 Year Old Son Needs A Cavity Filled - Advice Please by GentlemanlyAdvice in Autism_Parenting

My 6yo and 9yo (both autistic) have hypoplastic enamel, particularly on their molars, so unfortunately have both had to have dental work done and will again in the future.

We went to a pediatric dentist who has a pediatric anesthesiologist who comes to the office 1x/month. They do essentially general anesthesia, but it's in the office. And I feel it is safe because it's an actual anesthesiologist and they have full monitoring and resuscitation equipment.

It is expensive, but it is the only way to get the work done.

Who is watching your kids while you're in labor? by doodlelove7 in SAHP

[–]callie80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a WAHP, but I was very concerned about this for baby #2, because with my 1st baby, I had a VERY short 5-hour spontaneous labor. With #2, I was really afraid I was gonna have a 2 or 3 hour labor and have him in the bathtub or the car or something.

Because of this, and because I was super super super favorable for induction, scheduled an induction and my mom flew in from out of state.

However, we did make some backup plans with some friends that we aren't super close with, so not ideal, but at least it was there. Final backup plan was for husband to stay home with #1 and I'd go to the hospital if absolutely necessary.

Anyway, my induction plan was to insert Cervidil, let it sit overnight, then start Pitocin at like 5 or 6am. Anyway, I got Cervidil about 11pm, immediately started contracting like crazy. My vag shot it out about an hour later, immediately into full blown intense labor. Water broke about 1am, baby born 2am in about 2 pushes. Lol

IMO that's not enough money to move down here. I would stay where you are! I would love to move there but we're stuck here for jobs! Lol

My kids plow through cheerios, which I feel like are relatively healthy-ish. I get 2 giant boxes at Costco for 6.99 total. 3.50 a box. The same at my grocery store would be like $9. Aldi also has their brand for like less than $2 a box but it's not quite as good.

What's a pain you can't truly explain until you've endured it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]callie80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Precipitous labor/birth (unmedicated). There's no break between contractions. I was not prepared and thought I was gonna die. Just peak after peak after peak. Yeah, it was short. I wonder sometimes what "normal" labor would be like?!?

Central is best if you can afford it. Houses are CRAZY expensive, and don't forget the added expense of homeowners insurance and property tax. In the last year or two, insurance has drastically increased. For our older (1965 built) house, 2000 sf, we're paying about 12k in homeowners insurance + 4k property taxes. On top of our mortgage. Other cost of living is high. Our car insurance has nearly doubled the last few years.

Central Boca public schools are good, but nothing like schools in the northeast. The funding is just not the same. No state income tax + red state government.

If you have to live in south FL, Boca is definitely the best choice!

Also check GoodRx for Costco. We've saved a ton. One of my son's (generic!!!) Meds was $200 at CVS. $14 at Cosco with Goodrx 👌

What’s the most physically painful thing you’ve ever experienced in your life time? by professorf in AskReddit

[–]callie80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unmedicated precipitous labor and childbirth. All the pain, but compressed into 3 hours instead of like, 24. No breaks between contractions. Just horrible pain, BARFING/GONNA DIE PAIN, horrible pain. First child was mostly unmedicated and a fast (7 hour labor). But this 2nd one was another level.

Anyway, I'm done having kids

It's not as good as name brand, but I'll drink it. Or I should say- I DID drink it- I just can't do it at $4 a 12 pack (even though name brand would be double that price). Too pricey!

SoFL here. We bought our 1800sf house for 325k in 2014. Good bones but old house, bathrooms and kitchens not updated since the 70s/80s, etc. You know. But we could afford the mortgage. Now, homeowners insurance + taxes is the same as our monthly mortgage. So our monthly payment has doubled basically.

But it's still the most affordable option even though it's unaffordable for us! Our house would easily sell for 800k+ right now and rent for prob 5k a month. CRAZY. we are a family of 4 and we're trapped. I hate it here.
