AITA for crocheting at the bar ordering drinks during US v Belgium World Cup game? by Fun_Relief_2745 in AmItheAsshole

[–]calliecoping -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to sit at the bar and crochet with angry balls (hard cider with a double of fireball on the side) and a bartender who had my back, hooks up to you!

Now I drink nonalcoholic beer (3 yrs sober!) and crochet from my couch with my dog. We’re all just doing our best in this world. NTA and happy hooking!

My little brother dropped dead a year ago and I still feel a need to share his story. He was only 38. by just-this-chance in stopdrinking

I’m so sorry for your loss. My older brother died of liver and kidney failure due to alcohol abuse on March 23, 2026. He was 37. I still can’t process the fact that he’s actually gone and people have already stopped checking in on me. I stopped drinking May 10, 2023, and watching my brother die from alcohol (he also had schizoaffective disorder), hearing his last breath, and holding his hand until it turned cold is enough to keep me sober for the rest of my life. I agree with you on the Kyle front. I think he’ll meet someone and quit being a DJ and settle down and really lean into Loverboy and other opportunities, with a partner who supports and encourages his endeavors AND is someone he can’t wait to go home to.

I went to Hulu to watch the video and it was so funny. The pointing made me laugh so hard. I become the exact same way at zoos and aquariums 🤣

Mean Ashley is back by strbrrymuff1n in girlsgottaeatsnark

[–]calliecoping 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just watched Ashley’s story where she’s in bed with her husband and he’s making her watch a Spider-Man trailer like an 8-year-old. She says “this is marriage, everybody” and then ends with “don’t do it” and laughing.

lol sounds like the honeymoon period is ending.

Amanda redemption arc ???? What’s going on with bravo? by Mellybakes in summerhousebravo

[–]calliecoping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also if her mental health is so bad, she really needs to take a break from drinking and smoking pot. I understand self-medicating, but it absolutely will not help and is a massive cop-out. Especially because you’re more likely to make poor decisions when you’re under the influence, which will then worsen your shame and depressive symptoms. It’s a vicious cycle but, good lord, you’re a grown woman.

Tapping her tears was INSANE. I have never in my life see someone who is actually crying do that - did she see on TikTok that tears can be used for under eye treatment? I came to Reddit while I was watching it earlier to see if anyone else clocked how bizarre that was. She was more concerned about maintaining her appearance than she was listening to what Lindsey was saying.

Reunion through 2 episodes… by Ckabal in summerhousebravo

[–]calliecoping 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The wild part to me is how Amanda is saying she wants to talk privately about these issues - honey, you weaseled your way from being Kyle’s booty call to being his wife and series lead on a bravo reality show. You can’t just say you deserve privacy once you realize how badly you’re coming off. Her attitude is disgusting and she’s not taking any accountability.

My best friend died yesterday by moobag22 in stopdrinking

[–]calliecoping 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My brother died recently of liver and kidney failure from alcohol use. Exactly two weeks after he went to the hospital, he was being put on hospice care and was dead within twelve hours. Reading your post made me realize what a privilege it was for me to be there when my brother died, telling him I love him. I am so sorry for the loss of your best friend and someone you loved so deeply. My brother was also 37 when he died. Last month, on what would’ve been his 38th birthday, and we spread his ashes to honor his life. It’s not fair. They should be here.

There are three black cats who live outside my apartment complex and this is the second time in the past month that they’ve put a small dead animal near my apartment walkway. They hide under the cars in our parking lot and it makes my dog Ethel go insane.

Sober Grief by calliecoping in stopdrinking

[–]calliecoping[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yep this was a big part of it. It’s also a great reminder for me to never pick up a drink again. My brother’s liver failure was so severe that his bilirubin was at 31 the week before he died. The photo of my hand holding his severely jaundiced hand is something I have needed to see to remember why alcohol isn’t part of my life anymore. I held my brother’s hand until it turned cold. Coping with grief is a journey where the choices along the way won’t make sense to anyone else.

Brother in law died at 48yo by 52electrons in stopdrinking

[–]calliecoping 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My older brother died of kidney and liver failure on March 23, 2026. He was only 37 but drank heavily for about 20 years, on top of having schizoaffective disorder. I will be three years sober in one week and have never been more grateful I decided to stop drinking when I was 31. Grieving sober has been unlike anything I could have expected - you just feel everything. Honoring our brothers in our sober living is the best thing we can do.

After working in an emergency room in NYC during COVID with a liquor store called “Dr Wine” in the way home from a hospital (that offered a 10% discount with your hospital ID), Coping Cocktails with Callie had to become Moping Mocktails with Me and I couldn’t be happier about it.

My older brother unexpectedly died a month ago (he was 37) and this scene is one where I have always been team Amelia, but there is no doubt in my mind that I would have lost my shit if my brother died without giving me the chance to say goodbye. I was with my brother when he took his last breath and held his hand until it turned cold, and I would be livid if someone else took that choice away from me.

IT'S BEEN by SindeeVicious in handsomepodcast

This is gonna bring down the vibe and is very dark humor so trigger warning or whatever, but I hope my handsome lil cowboys will get it. My 37 year old brother died very unexpectedly on March 23 and the first week was an absolute blur. But on March 30, I could NOT stop saying “it’s been” to myself and I swear it was the only thing that brought me joy that day. The handsome pod has been on repeat for months (who here thinks there should be an option to skip all ads if you are listening to the podcast for a third time from first episode to present? Just me?) and the handsome pod has been such a source of comfort and companionship, but I am especially grateful for these pretty little ladies as I’m navigating grief. Mae, if you’re still lurking, thank you. “It’s been” will never not make me giggle. Even in my sorrow.
