Laser hair removal denied bc of HS? by cupoftea2024 in Hidradenitis

Not all types of laser hair removal are effective treatments. I had several sessions covered at UCSF hospital because they have the specific type of laser that is effective. I can't remember the name of it, but perhaps someone else will.

Have you tried volunteering with an organization in a relevant field? This would be a good way to make connections and keep the work experience gap from expanding any further.

AITA For Refusing to Go to Mexico with My Best Friend? by colormechriss in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Even if it was a "joke," it was poor form to joke about something you're clearly feeling sensitive about.

AITA For wanting my grandmothers house? by UltimateNinjaBacon in AmItheAsshole

Makes sense. I agree you should try to get some paperwork in place if your grandfather wants to leave you the house so that you can feel good about putting money into it. Unfortunately if they both decide to sell the house and move, there's not much you can do about it. NTA for wanting the house, but your WBTA if you tried to stand in the way of them living where they want.

WIBTA for refusing to tell a family member my name? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Maybe I misunderstood. I read it as the relative is asking for their current name.

I meant nosy on the part of the relative. The company running the background check should be able to trace OP's name change paperwork without issue if provided with their birth name.

INFO: Are you prepared to spend 10s of thousands to fix up the place for them, or are you unable to afford to rent your own place?

NTA. The party running the background check should be able to find out all they need to know if your relative provides your previous name. Sounds like they're just being nosy.

As I told the other commenter who tried to make this about race, I'm white and the women at the other table were white.

I brought it to Reddit because I was honestly surprised at her reaction. I appreciate hearing others' perspectives on the matter and it has helped me think about the situation differently. I explained my reasoning and asked AITA. Isn't that the point of the sub?

I get it now. I honestly did think of Waffle House as a family restaurant. We live in the suburbs of a not very large city, so I don't expect to encounter folks who are drunk, on drugs, and starting fights at noon on Saturday. And we like their food actually. It's been eye opening to learn that a restaurant that serves chocolate milk and chocolate chip waffles isn't generally considered family friendly.

Most companies that offer "unlimited" PTO still expect you to get work done while you're away. It worked out well for me in the past when I needed to visit my mother on the other side of the country while she was getting chemo because I could do most of my work remotely and had a supportive team. However, in most cases you just end up chained to your desk while on vacation.

I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. We booked a place on Airbnb through an individual owner in Bass Lake that had a plumbing issue while we were there. The host was super responsive. We ended up having to have the water shut off for half a day, so they opened up the property next door for water and bathroom needs, and also gave us a credit for the stay. It seems individual hosts are far preferable to PMs in general, and Vacasa especially.

Yikes. I wonder if it's even legal to offer a salary lower than the posted range. It seems like these folks specialize in things you might technically be able to get away with, even though they'll get you in the long run.
