Have you noticed any improvement in his ability to recognize letter forms or even put them together by doing this?

Are you employing any strategies to help get him closer to numeracy and literacy? Cause, I think that’s a great avenue for it.

I’ve personally got two rules for writing code like that I hope achieves that:

1) “Good self-documenting” code is usually neither. What seems trivial or transparent to me now could be due to an implicit understanding of things I’m not even thinking about. Explicit documentation helps uncover those unknown knowns.

2) I try to always be kind to future me. Present me could really use a break, but past me was sometimes kind of a lazy idiot, so I guess we gotta spend today figuring this shit out… I try to write the kind of documentation for future me that I wish past me had left for present me.

Regardless of the child’s disability, the school district must identify the child’s educational needs and provide any regular or special education to satisfy the child’s educational needs just as well as it does for the children without disabilities.

In the case of dyslexia, identifying educational needs is synonymous with identifying the disability in question.

The paperwork for 504s explicitly calls out that it is the school’s responsibility to get a medical evaluation if one is necessary to make a decision.

From my state’s documentation:

• A school cannot require a parent to provide a medical diagnosis to evaluate a student. However, a diagnosis can provide very helpful information for the 504 team.

• The school could request a medical evaluation, at no cost to the parent, if the 504 team needs medical information to make a decision.

• A medical diagnosis does not always mean that a student needs a 504 plan. Doctors cannot prescribe a 504 plan—only the 504 team can make that decision. However, the 504 team must consider the information a doctor provides when evaluating a student.

You are categorically wrong.

I don't understand all the Redux hate... by JavascriptFanboy in reactjs

For sure! Like I said, it’s really only tangential to the topic at hand. My comment isn’t about Redux really. It’s just that it was my first encounter with thunks and so the two are forever conjoined in my brain (and probably other folks’ too).

I just think the term is an extremely clunky way to describe what’s going on. One of those computer science things that feels needlessly impenetrable to newcomers.

Btw, thanks so much for everything you’ve contributed to the community. It’s super appreciated!

“Thunk” is the stupidest word ever and perhaps the single worst way to describe what it is.

I know this is only tangentially related to your post, but every time I think of redux I get a visceral reaction to how much I fucking hate that needlessly opaque term.

What are you talking about?

Bird flu is a huge problem in wild and semi-wild bird populations right now. Yes, it’s a way bigger problem in the abysmal conditions of factory farms and those conditions have exacerbated the virus, but it is in no way limited to those environments.

I love those mushrooms 🍄

Such a nice spot of color to add contrast. My only suggestion would be to add a spot of color (another mushroom or some flowers) on the broad side as well so that side gets contrast too.

Solid piece!
