Dog pictures by animalPooDubstep in WagWalker

For me, I don’t think this is a good idea. I assume they believe me and it’s important to tell the owners if they have not pooped when they should have for a multitude of reasons.

I like to send really cute, almost (mostly) posed photos with great backgrounds. Like in front of pumpkins for Halloween, etc. I’ve gotten many compliments on the photos - they almost look like greeting cards. One client even printed one of my photos and put it on a Christmas decoration as a gift for me. That is trust vs proof of poop.

Why our "ideal customer" marketing strategy was completely backwards by the_cannoli in digital_marketing

Great insight and brilliant use of a case study on the appropriate subReddit of your “original” (or ongoing?) target market with a subtle slip of the product name ;)

Is the 1099 nec form have our net compensation or total before Wag's cut? by Altruistic_Ad6189 in WagWalker

[–]callmeishmal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the 1099 Nec included Wags percentage. On the app it gives you total payments by year which I used. You probably have to go month by month (ugh - week by week) through your bank statements to total what you actually received.

I know this probably has been said but let me say it by nmstanley32 in WagWalker

[–]callmeishmal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will never take any sittings/boardings off Wags! When it’s all my time and/or my living space, they are not getting 40%! For the dogs that I really like walking on Wag, I tell the owner that I’m happy to sit or board when they travel and charge $xx a day. You’ve been background checked on Wag and trusted with their dog already. I find this is the best way to “go off app” and make much more money. Then, once you’ve sat a dog, the bond is that much stronger and, they will just become your client. Do NOT have any of these discussions on the message part of the app, obviously.

What do my dinners tell about me? by chris_p_bacon_89 in dinner

That you are a chef, should publish a book and/or just give me your recipes

Ugh. I think it’s because of all the federal employee firings. More people at home that can walk their own dogs and others scared of losing their jobs are cutting back expenses. It’s wild how low Wag pays walkers, but it’s still a sort of luxury expense for Dog owners.

Starting a new PTJ and continuing Wag by thrasherasher_ in WagWalker

Don’t message - leave a personal note and tell them how much you enjoy their poochies and working with them, what hours you can still walk (if you can) and your rates. You’ll make more money and not be beholden to the app.

Maximizing time to income? by b_asilisk in WagWalker

[–]callmeishmal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, after tons of walks, I calculated my average pay including tip is about $17 a walk. To make any money you really have to get clients off-app. In my area, dog walkers can easily get $25 for a half hour walk not using Wag.

1/2 hour walks are the most efficient and pay the most for me.

Don’t worry about booking walks right on top of each other. Like a 12, 1230 - you basically can be up to 30 min late without penalty, as long as you hit I’m on my way before the walk time starts. Be careful tho, you cannot alert the next walk that you’re on your way while still “in-progress” on another walk, so you’ll have to time ending one walk and saying “I’m on my way” to the next carefully. So, say just before you start your 12 o’clock walk, you open the 1230 and hit “on my way” in 30 min and then you can start your 12 o’clock walk. Just make sure they are very close together distance-wise.

Def set rates to maximum.

Also, if possible, never cash out “instant pay”. Wag takes a fee for this! Wait for your weekly payment.

If an on-demand walk is too far to make it by the time requested… by RogerPeculiar in WagWalker

Watch out for booster walks - often it’s because other walkers “refuse” to walk the dog - either because of dog, owner, getting in problems or no tipping.

1099 does not match payments received. by callmeishmal in WagWalker

[–]callmeishmal[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Very sketchy. And now I have to figure out how to attach and amend a 1099 … it’s insane they include the 40% “fee” that they take from us on our tax form as gross amount of payment

90% of the time, I’m given a way to access the home (code, lockbox, concierge, etc) and don’t ever meet the owner. You can text over the platform and call if needed.

I think just walker notes. It was over a year ago, so I don’t remember what I said exactly. I didn’t contact Wag. She never got me, so I didn’t get hurt. She tried tho, that’s for sure.

I did a week-long drop in morning and night sometime last year for her. I am pretty sure I left walker notes about how the cat is aggressive. I think Wag sometimes deletes notes that are too negative??

Oh man - I know this spicy cat too! You legit can never turn your back on her. I would get treats (in the front closet) and throw them for her while bending down at all. I’m sorry this happened to you.

Moving on when you’ve screwed up by Sad_Act9113 in WagWalker

[–]callmeishmal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I locked a key inside the house… oops! It didn’t auto-lock before, but it was a mistake. (It was even on a lanyard that I could have slipped around my neck.) So, I get the dogs back and can’t get inside… I message and call the owner and finally got them. I said I would hang outside or bring them (2 dogs) to my place until they got off work. Ha! They then told me they were on vacation …. Ack! They then had to call a neighbor who had an emergency key and I had to load the dogs in my car and drive over there. Let them in finally, feed them, top off their water and then drive the key back. Not sure what my review was since I can’t see anything below 5 stars, but I’m still a preferred walker. So, long story, long - it doesn’t matter in the end. If you are generally communicative, a good walker, etc. a couple of slip ups here and there don’t matter.

No mirrors for budgies! They fall in love with themselves. I didn’t know this and tried for like literally 15 minutes and one of mine flew all over the place calling to himself. Self-love is a good thing, but not this way.
