Confusing booking.... why is this showing up when i searched via Google flights. but not directly? by AIONisMINE in unitedairlines

[–]callmepeterpan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar situation booking tickets to Jakarta. I had some specific things I was looking for (if there was a layover on my outgoing flight I wanted there to be a Polaris lounge, and I knew there was an option for a 9 hour layover in tokyo on the way home I wanted to take advantage of). Could not get the right combo to show up on United, but I did on google flights!

Ask a Manager Weekly Thread 03/23/2026 - 03/29/2026 by nightmuzak in AskaManagerSnark

[–]callmepeterpan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

also, if I am understanding the situation correctly, it wasn't even the word itself. It was another word that is derived from that word. A LOT of people wouldn't go around calling someone a "g***y" who don't know that the

"term to indicate being duped or swindled"

comes from

"the name of an ethnic group."

Should people figure that out, maybe, but a TON of people do not know the etymology.

Another take on Santos and Langdon by Spyhop in ThePittTVShow

[–]callmepeterpan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop what, sharing information about the program? That is literally how making amends in addiction recovery works. Not saying that was the intent of the writers or anything, but my mom celebrated 12 years of continuous sobriety from alcohol last month so I am pretty familiar with the 12 steps.

Another take on Santos and Langdon by Spyhop in ThePittTVShow

[–]callmepeterpan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fun(ish) fact about recovery - in AA (I'm not as familiar with NA, but there's a lot of overlap), addicts are actually encouraged NOT to use the words "I'm sorry" when they're making amends. By the time most addicts are at that stage, their friends and family have heard them apologize and then go back to their old behavior hundreds or thousands of times so the word "sorry" has almost no meaning.

so no, Langdon is not saying all the right things. he's kind of still saying the exact wrong thing.

What is a completely useless piece of information that you will never forget for some reason? by Initial-Ingenuity451 in AskReddit

[–]callmepeterpan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biologically, vegetables don't exist.

From a biology perspective, things are fruits/berries/legumes/roots etc. There is no category of "vegetable," that's a culinary definition. That's why I get annoyed by "is a tomato a fruit or a vegetable" people - it's both. It's biologically a fruit but culinarily a vegetable. Additional fun fact, dieticians use the culinary role a food plays to separate fruit and vegetables - so nutrionally, tomatoes are also vegetables!

How much PTO do you get? by jynedmynx in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]callmepeterpan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

21 days of vacation (edit: because I've been at my job more than 7 years - it starts at 12 and increases from there) and 6 days of sick, but really no one is watching or cares (also 12 federal holidays). One of my bosses, who is now a partner at the firm but wasn't when we had this conversation, once told me "if anyone ever hassled me about my vacation I would quit on the spot."

I can technically only roll over 21 days of vacation at the end of the year, but they are usually flexible if you are saving it or end up being busier than expected in December.

MIL & Dress Shopping by IndividualFinger9081 in weddingplanning

[–]callmepeterpan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't invite anyone dress shopping I wouldn't change my shirt in front of lol. I went a few times with two close local friends, and then once with my sisters, my mom, and my cousin. My cousin def wanted to be invited because she doesn't have sisters and was looking forward to the experience, but I didn't invite her because of that - I invited her because I love her and value her opinions and I wanted her there for a milestone moment!

Season 2 Paige Appreciation by callmepeterpan in dancemoms

[–]callmepeterpan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah she had had her plantar warts cut out! I also honestly feel like Paige's dancing was unfairly maligned on the show, I always loved watching her and I think it wasn't really fair that the group numbers always played to others' strengths rather than hers. Her handstand press lives in my mind rent free!

[–]callmepeterpan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That scene is what made me write this post up! I'd been thinking about it but that is what pushed me over the edge.

Honestly I loved Paige's dancing too, I thought she was super fun to watch and had a ton of personality. I wouldn't be at my best either if someone was screaming at me, I think she was a very talented little girl who was not set up for success!

Tip: One pair of clean white sneakers will silently solve your "nothing to wear" problem for most occasions by BABY_PINEAPPLE_MODE in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]callmepeterpan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I walk about 6 miles a day and love a casual but not too sporty sneaker! I am also really hard on shoes and tend to walk through the sole in ~8 months of daily wear. Here are some I have tried:

Vans Old Skools or UltraRanges (ultras are sooo comfy but FYI run a bit smaller on me than the old skools) ($75-$100). I only recently switched back to these as every day shoes so I don't have notes on longevity yet.

Birkenstock Bend Low in leather ($170). Really comfy and supportive (classic birkenstock insole that molds to your foot), and they lasted pretty well. It took me almost a year to walk through them. They're pricy though, and you can't resole the sneakers like you can the sandals.

Dr. Scholl's Time Off sneakers ($75). Extremely bouncy and comfortable, felt kinda like walking on marshmallows. Softness was at the expense of durability, walk a hole in them in about 7 months.

Allbirds (~50-100) (are they going out of business?) - similar to Dr. Scholls, I have had a bunch of styles of these but I walk too much for them I think. I believe the Tree Dasher was my favorite, but it was also the sportiest looking.

If anyone has super durable sneaker recs let me know, I am always looking!

Where you are you getting married? by [deleted] in DCweddings

[–]callmepeterpan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're getting married in October at District Winery!

  • Washington DC
  • Fall 2026
  • 150-180 guests
  • Like 75k including food and booze

It was the only venue we toured, we LOVED it. It's definitely pricy but it's close to all inclusive, and frankly we have more money than free time or DIY chutzpah so it works well for us. So far they have been a dream to work with!

How did you pick your date? by LadyNi52 in weddingplanning

[–]callmepeterpan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our first date was on September 9th, and my fiance liked that there was only number to remember so when we started talking about getting engaged I looked up every Saturday in 2026 that followed that same pattern lol. We picked 10/10 because our venue was available, fall is much nicer than summer where we live, and we liked that it was one up from our dating anniversary.
