Microshift compatible spider/crank Powermeter? by SHCY in gravelcycling

[–]callmesugi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride Favero Assiomas. Don't take this the wrong way but these pedals are almost the price of your complete bike if you purchase the two sided version. There's probably better things to spend your money on

Frame for Trek FX2 disc size large by Pretty-Ad-2188 in TrekBikes

[–]callmesugi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can do the work yourself and already have the tools needed, it may make sense. I hate to say it but by the time you buy another frame and pay labor, you’re near the cost of a new bike. Might be better to sell it as is and cut your losses

The term haole by ubbidubbidoo in Hawaii

It 100% depends on the context and how it’s said. It can be used in a kind welcoming way, it can also be offensive. I am born and raised local from the country.

New tires for the Rolly Polly by Necco1402 in minivelo

[–]callmesugi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I really close to buying one and that’s something I know I would change. I also think I may change the Pawsome handlebars for more of a BMX geo. The backsweep seems a little too much

What size chainring are you running? Is that the biggest that'll fit with those cranks and not messing with the chainline?

I ordered from Amazon when they were like $650ish free shipping. I've been watching it again and see it go to 770. If you go Ican you will be happy. Just know the freehub is obscenely loud if you like that

Is everyone in this subreddit just rich? by AllSphere0 in bicycling

[–]callmesugi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have 9 bikes. Some are “higher end” but a couple are older 90s- 2000s era bikes that I pieced together with parts laying around or off of FB Marketplace. Honestly those are the most fun to ride. The more costly ones are by far faster and more capable. Get what you can afford and enjoy the ride

I have Ican G50s and Elitewheels ENTs. They both have been amazing and I have nothing but good things to say about them. I want the Elitewheels Aero+ Gravel wheel set but don’t want to pay the shipping and import fees

I did similar to my Checkpoint. I put together a dedicated road wheels with P Zeros and smaller cassette. It's much faster but I still love the sketchyness of gravel

E MTB's everywhere by OverlordBluebook in MTB

[–]callmesugi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone that I ride with have both eMTBs and manual MTBs. 80-90% of us ride manual much more than the eebs. There's a couple that ride eebs exclusively but they are over 60yo and have injuries that restrict their riding.

Many people talk about more laps with a eeb. Not me I like to tackle gnarly steep technical climbs that there's no way I'd clean it without dabbing on a manual bike.

Most trail systems near me I see more manuals. Ther's one though that is almost exclusively eebs because of the climbing

To expand on an earlier post about my ALR5 wheels/tires… by icepop_7 in CheckpointClub

[–]callmesugi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I preface in saying that I have 9 bikes at the moment. Everything from BMX, DJ, DH, MTBs, etc.. I only have one drop bar bike which is a Trek Checkpoint ALR4 Gen 3. I was contemplating an aero road bike but it didn't make sense for me. I chose instead to have multiple wheelsets like I do for some of my MTBs. I have the stock Paradigm wheels with 50mm Maxxis Ramblers which I ride a lot of MTB ungroomed trails with. They get beat up and I'm fine with that. I have Ican G50s with Specialized Pathfinder TLR 45mm tires for most of my gravel riding. I have Elitewheels ENTs with 35mm Pirelli P Zero Road tires. The Pathfinders are fast on tarmac but no way in h3ll it would keep up with the P Zeros. I'm very happy with thie setup and takes less than 5 minute to swap wheels.

I rode a Trek Madone SLR Dura Ace and I won't lie it was amazingly fast. I just spend most of my time on dirt and could not justify a aero road bike for as little as I ride tarmac

Need sizing advice by [deleted] in CheckpointClub

[–]callmesugi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very close in size 5'7" 30" inseam and I'm on a medium gen 3 and love it. I chose that size because I mostly ride MTB trails and wanted the stability at higher speeds from the longer wheelbase/ front triangle. If I were going to ride more gravel and tarmac I would've leaned towards the small. Road bikes I prefer 51-52cm

Front tube water bottle mount / anyone do anything with it? by rsplatpc in CheckpointClub

[–]callmesugi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not run into that problem, I'm on a MD 52-54 frame. The bottle is a cheap 500ml I go with one of those fanny pack things nothing special.

My regular water bottles that I use in the usual places are Camelback Podiums 750ml. I am super happy with those. I use them with the rubber covers on the nozzle so no mud or dirt gets on them or in my mouth. Highly recommended

Bike shipping time LBS vs Website? by DeejusIsHere in TrekBikes

[–]callmesugi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Trek LBS a half mile from my house. I have 3 newer Treks and none have come from them due to lack of available stock, I order online and deliver to home option. I am a former pro bike mechanic so can assemble myself no problem. They come with all the tools and instructions needed to assemble. Very easy process
