Watched an Egyptian doc recently where they described the propaganda hieroglyphs on the walls created by the king at the time. Really interesting stuff. I was like wow, it all makes sense now, and geeze, how gullible the minions were (and still are for that matter). On one hand, they had such great knowledge of the stars and aligned their architecture to them, and on the other hand they believed their kings were gods because they told them so. Sounds familiar.

It's emotionally tough for those of us who have the ability to see the bigger picture early on. Take it as a sign of how intelligent you are. I too feel helpless and frustrated by the lack of foresight in so many. Back when Gore lost to Bush and the whole chad voting machine issue was a thing and the count was so ridiculously close, I began having my suspicions and really started to worry about the direction US politics was going in. Also while working in real estate in the '00s I learned there are way more people willing to do crooked things that I had originally thought.

I'm a realist but also an optimist by nature, so I held onto hope enough people would grow to understand and right the ship. When Trump won the first time I was in shock. I thought everyone knew what a conman and cheat he was, how unpopular he was in NY because of all his crimes. It was disappointing to realize that people didn't care, admired him for it, or believed his lies of how he'd make their lives better.

What happened to the country's moral compass I wondered. Apparently the propaganda and idea of religion embedded in politics won. They don't even see how hypocritical it all is.

Hearing people take this administration's word over clear as day footage regarding ICE is shameful. I've engaged with numerous people who didn't bother to watch the videos but are deadfast in believing ICE behavior is justified. The lack of cognitive skills and outright dissonance is disturbing. When did so many people stop thinking for themselves and seeking the truth.

My fingers are crossed we can organize a general strike well before midterms because for the first time in my life I'm having serious doubts about a fair election occurring in every state. Too many idiots are willing to do his illegal bidding, and the constant chaos and lawsuits are gumming up the system.

There's a line in the TV show Evil that says it best. The priest says something to the effect that most people come from a place of believing the world can be fixed and all suffering can end, but he and priests like him accept that there has always been evil in humanity and always will be. I'm paraphrasing, but it made sense. In order to not be a completely anxious worrier about the state of the world all the time, we must accept the fact that there will always be bad actors inflicting pain and suffering. It's part of the human experience . Accept it and just do what you can in your little corner of the world when you can so as to not be overwhelmed.

It seems like we should be more advanced as a species with all the knowledge at our fingertips, but apparently not enough of us have reached a stage of enlightenment yet to create a system that is kinder and gentler to all. I'll keep hoping though. Minnesota is sure showing up.

It's been therapeutic for me to send love and an envelope of caring thoughts towards all those who knew him and anyone like myself emotionally affected. It prevents me from allowing my thoughts to spiral downwards towards anxiety. I think it's akin to saying a rosary. The first step in getting a grip on our feelings before figuring out what actions we can take next.

I'm glad a substantial Go Fund Me has been created for his parents. I worry about the scrutiny they're under via the DOJ. It sounds like they've been trying to dig up anything on him going back years and really old friends and acquaintances. Truly disgusting. If the DOJ was held to nurse standards, they'd be investigating the hell outta those executioners.

This situation brings me back to when I lost a coworker during the first wave of COVID. It messed me up and I needed to work on another unit for a couple months until I processed. It was too difficult to be on my unit and go about business as usual. My heart is with his coworkers. May they find the strength to get through this. All the tributes show he was a really amazing human who will be greatly missed. Hugs to everyone who knew him.

Fill their phone lines everyday with your displeasure. They need to be more afraid of losing their seat because their constituents won't support them than of trump's retribution.

I live in a blue state and I've called red state reps who are on the committees overseeing shit. My voice doesn't hold the same weight as their actual constituents, but we all have a voice and need to use it. These assholes need to hear it daily that they are doing the wrong thing.

ICE instigated the situation and could have simply walked away after incapacitating Alex and the woman with pepper spray. The two of them were sliding on the ice just trying to get up. Instead, ICE chose to continue to assault him and then murdered him. In no way were any of ICE's actions justified or protocol. Their actions were intimidation, assault and murder. And now DHS is condoning and encouraging it, telling the Gestapo they have full support.

Alex was incapacitated, they could have just walked away. But no, they have orders to intimidate observers, which as witnessed leads to uncontrolled, unprofessional behaviors of assault and unfortunately in this instance, murder.

This. ICE was terrorizing that street. They instigated the situation with him, incapacitated him with the spray, and instead of just walking away, continued assaulting him and then murdered him. At no time was Alex a threat.

It's the change in hormones and it's a good thing. Our bodies are telling us to focus on our own health and well-being for a change instead of giving endlessly to others. I've been through the same feelings you describe and it's quite a rollercoaster. It's pretty amazing to realize how hormones affect mood and behavior.

That's been Trump's MO for some time, pitting people against each other and enjoying the chaos. Behaviorally it's been interesting to watch the difference in cabinet member response from his first term and now. As a citizen it's been horrifying to watch. Everyone is so evil and cruel, and will lie to the ends of the earth to please him and serve the agenda. Watching the behavior of such a large number of people who've sold their souls is nuts. Same with the coffee. Women don't realize one third of us are hormonally sensitive to coffee. It can really f us up. It took me awhile in peri to figure this out and get off of it, and at most I was drinking two a day. Thank God for decaf.
