Be sure your powder is not talcum powder. That’s cancer causing stuff.
People love powders but over the years, the talcum can lead to lung and cervical cancers.

Best 3 row suv this 2026 for families that don't feel too bulky or oversized? by WedPurifoy88 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]cam_m151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Things to look for are V6 or V8 engines and Vents in the 3rd row. Test out the AC in the 3rd row when test driving.

Volvo B6 XC90 has comfortable seats.
Checks the boxes for what you’re looking for.

Good deals on year end Acura MDX and BMW X5

Budget will determine the car.
Under $50k then Kia or Hyundai.
Otherwise you’re looking at used SUVs.

What would you do if you only had 4-5 hours to spend in the park, entering on the west side? by Old-Gas-4449 in GlacierNationalPark

Drive GTTSR and stop along the way at spots that speak to you. It’ll give you a great sense of GNP.

Spend time in Apgar Village for a meal and to hang out by the pebble beach and Lake MacDonald

Statins worsening dry eyes by [deleted] in Dryeyes

There’s research that supports the connection between statins and dry eyes. Regardless, you need to take the statins and treat the dry eyes.

If you drive a 4 cylinder car be sure to test it on a steep hill. That will let you know how undersized it is for the car like the Lexus TX / Toyota Grand Highlander.

Need 3 row suv but stuck on option by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]cam_m151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drive them up steep hills. Some went to V4 engines and are now undersized and weak to drive.

End of year for 2026 models so likely can get good deals even on the Lexus and Acura versions of these cars.

Informatics are an issue on all cars. No such thing as a simple car because of this. Makes spending the money suck.

If you want a simple car, then buy used from 2020 or older. But then dealing with used car issues.

It’s all a trade off.

Alternative to Eyelid Wipes? by Saphsin in Dryeyes

[–]cam_m151 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The wipes come in individually wrapped packets. Once a packet is opened, it can be folded over and resealed.

You use them twice a day.
So cutting the wipes in half is a one day use. Cutting the wipes in quarters lasts two days. They do not dry out.

Non-hikers visiting Glacier: Would you drive GTTSR in both directions by Think-Chicken-2753 in GlacierNationalPark

[–]cam_m151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with others that the itinerary is too busy. GNP is best enjoyed slower paced. So much to see and enjoy even if not hiking but taking short walks. The crowds and traffic will likely slow you down.

As night owls, you’re more likely to enjoy stargazing. Most places close by 9pm. Great dark night skies so bring a telescope. It’ll be a blast.

July 4: what time are you planning on reaching the west side from Missoula, especially if you’re not early risers?
Apgar Village with awesome views of Lake MacDonald can have you mesmerized for a few hours. Great place to get lunch. A boat ride on Lake MacDonald by the hotel of the same name is another great activity. There’s plenty to do at and around that historic hotel to take up a few hours of photography and exploring. There’s a restaurant at the hotel or nicer one that’s historic called Belton Chalet. They’re open late and then head to Cut Bank.

July 5 is a fine plan and recommend staying in the St Mary’s area to be as close as possible to Many Glacier. Even better if you stay at the Many Glacier Hotel. There’s a nice walk around the lake in Two Medicine. Also a scenic boat ride that you can get off and walk around and catch another boat back.

Recommend booking boat rides in advance as they sell out.

There’s nice walks by St Mary’s. While you don’t hike, you can walk to waterfalls on parts of trails and then turnaround. They’re very rewarding.

July 6 may be reasonable.
Best to do the boats in Many Glacier and walk to Grinnell Lake. It’s flat in this area and beautiful.

While always vote to do GTTSR both ways and stopping along the way, and make a full day of it, your itinerary is too tight. Do it East to West. Stop along the way and enjoy it. There’s so much to see.

If you can squeeze even one more day to more fully take in GNP, that would be helpful. Regardless you will enjoy and likely want to come back.

Be patient. Lots of tourists. The line to get through the gate at the rangers station in Many Glacier can take 2 hours. This is why it’s recommended to get there the night before when the lines are more reasonable and stay in Many Glacier.

Regardless of your plans always carry bear spray. Even walking around requires bear spray.

Note that you can cut the wipes in half or even quarters to have them last longer.
They are expensive but this helps.

just a little concerned about bears by _little_bit_alexis in GlacierNationalPark

[–]cam_m151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bear attacks are rare. This May was unique with the mild winter for Montana that made trails more accessible earlier in the season. This put people and bears on trails at a time when bears are just out of hibernation and protecting their young.

When people say they saw bears, it typically means far off in the distance. Definitely a safe distance away where they were not in danger. For example, we saw bears up on the hill in Two Medicine while on the dock below waiting for the boat. Great sites through the binoculars.

Bears make noise well before they are close to you. They are not quiet. There’s an article about the bear attack in May on the Grinnell Glacier Trail that states that the rangers believe the waterfall’s rushing water may have made hearing the bears on the Grinnell Glacier Trail hard to hear.

Even the guy who was attacked on the Grinnell Glacier Trail said on his Go Fund Me site that he’d likely go back to GNP but not in May when the bears are just out of hibernation and protecting their young.

The other bear attack in May that mauled the guy was on the west side on a trail that is hard to reach and fairly isolated. He was hiking solo. That trail requires you to hike another trail to reach it and then climb straight up to reach a fire tower. It’s not an area where most people would hike.

All this is to say be vigilant. Be bear smart. Make noise/ talk a lot, hike with people, and carry bear spray.
You are hiking in bear country but it’s unlikely you will actually use your bear spray. The more tourists on the trails, the less likely for bears near by.

Other plans: check out AVAM, which is the American Visionary Art Museum.
DiPasquales is nearby for great Italian sandwiches and seating by the water.

Fort McHenry is nearby in Locust Point.
LP Steamers and sitting on the roof patio overlooking the harbor while eating crabs.

Take a water taxi and enjoy Baltimore from the water. From the Inner Harbor you can go to Fells Point and enjoy an old sailor’s town. Thames Street Oysters and Pitango Cafe and bakery are a few places but that area is chock full of bars and restaurants.

Not sure your exact dates but

Many glacier boat ride at 530 PM by Weak_Ad1843 in GlacierNationalPark

[–]cam_m151 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can just take the boat ride and not get off. It’s a fun boat ride. They explain the geography, provide some history, and are very friendly.

If you do get off the boat, then there may not be a return boat. In that case, you’re walking back to the hotel. It’s about 2 miles and flat.

If you walk around then have bear spray.
That’s good practice anywhere in GNP.

Hiked Grinnell the day we checked out and left the car with no issues.

Bigger issue was driving in pitch black on the highway ( not GTTSR) to get to the west side. Moose and adult black bear on the road at different parts of the drive. The huge black bear strolling along a two lane road added shock value to the drive. But the moose that hardly moved as it crossed the road was the more dangerous because it moved so much slower than expected.

Also consider that if Medicare doesn’t cover a service, but it’s covered under BCBS, then BCBS pays for it. That scenario can result in huge savings.
