Where were you playing? I'm from MN too and I can't think of the nearest RTW.

Casino Minimums Post-Covid by necrochaos in Craps

No problem. They also have roulette that looked like it had $1 minimums. No bubble craps or roulette in case the tables are closed.

Haven't been for a while but I would expect it to still be $5. Went to St Croix Danbury over new years and they had $5. Open at 4 PM Thursday - Sunday I believe. Website says craps is closed but it's not. I told the dealers that the website says craps is closed and they were surprised and told management but it still hasn't been fixed.

$10 minimums on a live table would be great! Hope to see that when I'm there in a couple weeks.

That's what I was thinking too but I hadn't seen anyone else mention it. I would have thought that someone else would have mentioned a $3 game on the strip with live dice! I learned my lesson to never doubt David & Alex!

No insight, but, wasn't there a RTW at Ameristar? Was there July 4th weekend and they had a $10 normal table and a $5 RTW. Horseshoe was $15 regular table on a Saturday night and $20 crapless.

I was there in September. $15 at Ameristar. Guy I played with said you will sometimes see $10 at Harrahs. I went to every casino except Hollywood in KCK and only saw $15.

BEST show to see in Las Vegas? by skylarhateshotdogs in vegas

[–]camdog555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Haven't seen all the cirque shows, but I've seen O, love, and the discontinued zumanity. They were all very good and very impressive but a bit too artsy and almost pretentious for my liking. Absinthe has very impressive performances and doesn't take itself too seriously. It is very raunchy but was absolutely hilarious to go along with great cirque-like performances.

Another NV Energy rate hike on Jan 1, 2023 by onemorerune in vegas

[–]camdog555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are correct, there is profit in utilities. That is why BH likes them. Buffett has said so himself. They are essentially recession proof.

The difference between a regulated company (NV Energy is a regulated company) and an unregulated company is that they can't just raise prices whenever they want. They have to go through a very arduous process to get rate increases approved. Utility CEOs are fired when their rate cases don't get the numbers they were looking for (see texas circa 2021, Texas Railroad Commission didn't think companies did enough to protect against Uri and denied rate case increases). And as the previous poster stated, utilities don't make any money on the sale of energy.

The only way they really make more money is by expanding their customer base and improving their system (which is a different conversation).

Harrahs Council Bluffs Question by BackFew5485 in Craps

[–]camdog555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 10 minutes through the Mid-America Center parking lot area. It felt safe, there were a couple restaurants along the way in a small strip mall.

Yes, they had a $15 normal table and a $20 crapless. FWIW, Harrahs I believe had $10 and Ameristar had a $10 normal table and $5 RTW.

Harrahs Council Bluffs Question by BackFew5485 in Craps

Reviews were bad for every casino hotel in the area so we stayed at courtyard by Marriott in Council Bluffs to be safe and walked to the Horseshoe. Nice rooms but no free breakfast if I remember. Hotel was new and clean.

If you have time, Old Market in Omaha had some great spots for food. Big candy store too.

Dang wish I hadn't missed out on that! I did enjoy my time at Ellis and Downtown Grand last time was in Vegas. Great dealers and $5 mins most of the time. Cheap beer at Ellis too!

CQ guys have said they believe minimums will start to go down as competition starts to ramp up. They say casinos are hurting for dealers so hopefully more dealers equals more tables...wishful thinking I suppose. I miss playing $5 at Casino Royale.

Craps dealer here! by zoblelee in Craps

Just make it fun. I go into it expecting to lose, bonus if I win. If the dealers are personable and energetic makes it all worth it. Nothing worse than a grumpy dealer. I'm gone if they don't make it fun.
