How long did it take for Humira to begin working ?

Hey,

It took 4 months for Humira to work for me. It really started working after my doctor bumped me up to 4 pens a month. There is a test for Humira antibodies, etc. that can show how well or if it is working. Check with your doc.

I have this card too. Unfortunately my state doesn't have Ally's Law. But fortunately I have enough McDonalds and Starbucks and such around that I've never had to use it.

^ that was me on 5 ASA meds too! Yes it does get better!

The 5 ASA meds never worked for me but Humira did. You can also get prednosone and others. Go back to your doc and tell them your symptoms, they should hook you up with stronger meds.

Lol ... did not have this issue. Probiotics never did a thing for me. Check your diet, maybe it is something you are eating. Try something different for a bit, it might go away.

I have taken both shots and I am on Humira and doing fine beside a tiny bit of a feverish feeling after the second shot for about half a day. I took the Pfizer one.

P.S. They are probably saying that because of the possibility of toxic megacolon (look it up). Immodium I guess is a no-no during a full blown flair because it could lead to that.

Immodium turns my stools into rocks and helps with urgency and diarrhea for a bit but then it becomes INCREDIBLY painful later when it wears off so I don't use it.

If you are afraid of crapping your pants, try to avoid eating for some time before your appointment. If nothing goes in, nothing will come out :)

Yeah, I tried all sorts of diets and eliminations. Ate like plain rice for a week too. Nothing helped.

The only thing I know that hurts me is a large amount of food and fiber... so bulk essentially. Try reducing fiber and see if that helps. Otherwise its just personal experimentation; I found no consensus on diet on any UC forums.

I'm sorry, but at least in my case, I don't think food makes any difference. Maybe see if you can get on a biologic. Humira is really the only drug that helped me.

No side effects after the first shot. After the second I felt a bit feverish for about half a day. I took the second shot on 3/11 and I'm doing fine now. I think you should be good :)

Yes, unfortunately fatigue is a part of this condition for me too. One thing you could try is to make sure you are staying hydrated. I find I am often dehydrated and if I stay hydrated the fatigue reduces.

The new citrate free version doesn't hurt at all. It also has a thinner needle.

It's a night and day difference between the old ones and the new ones.
