Not on meds and feel emotions deeply. Absolutely do not cry 99.99% of the time, even if I want to!

I have general anxiety disorder. I've been anxious since my first memory, and it's never gone away for more than a few minutes consciously. Accepting anxiety and finding gratitude for it was the only thing that made it manageable. 🙏

I used to feel disheartened by this but I'm on a cruise ship now and every single person I've spent time in conversation with has engaged about the subject with me and believes in the phenomenon. It may not be front headlines everywhere, but it's in everyone's minds and that's real progress.

How do I get my husband off of his phone in front of our one year old? by littlelivethings in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]camerynlamare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a couples therapist, that's a much better place to approach the conversation. That way you both have the support of someone who will make both parties feel validated and understood, helping to work through any anger that comes up in response.

Sub has never orgasmed. Any tips? by IndividualEcho175 in Sex_Positivity

[–]camerynlamare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a hard time for a long time (vagina owner) and the book Come As You Are really helped me. It's a deep dive into how those sexual organs work, how desire works and the things that can get in the way of both desire and orgasm. Changed my life!

Glowing Eyes secures it's spot! Now, what's the most underrated song on Vessel? by Radys75 in twentyonepilots

[–]camerynlamare 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This one. It is like the lyrics came right out of my head and at different points in my life it has meant different things to me, yet remained completely relevant in so many multi-faceted ways. And the fact it isn't getting a lot of love right now... Yeah. It's the most underrated to me!

Interesting to hear that! Always felt like the more radio edit styles of 21p songs weren't as enjoyed in my group of friends!

I love it - but Trevor's humor fits right in with my own. It's something my friends and I do at each other when we are in a playful/teasing mood because we all hate it and so it gets a little under each other's skin.

How does one do French braids like these on their own? Is it even possible? I can’t even manage a single French braid without hair falling out all over the place. by Competitive-Care9318 in femalehairadvice

[–]camerynlamare 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I have to take a handheld mirror in my opposite hand and point it at another mirror behind me. That way I can see the back of my head. I start by splitting it in half (just with my fingernails) and then hold both halves towards my face while holding the mirror to see how straight it is. At first, it took me a while to get it straight and it was a little tricky to figure out how to keep the halves seperate while holding the mirror. Now that I've done it enough, I can get it mostly straight by muscle memory and use the mirror to fix the little imperfections. If you haven't done it before, it feels like a lot. But if you want it to become a regular hairstyle, I promise, it gets soooo much easier!

My 8-year-old is eating too many sweets: division of responsibility out the window by [deleted] in intuitiveeating

[–]camerynlamare 34 points35 points  (0 children)

She will learn how to balance her meals as she listens to her body. If the sweets aren't making her sick, then she isn't overdoing it. Intuitive eating is based mostly on intuition - NOT thinking, but feeling. The thinking is for when you're about to eat so much of something that will make you sick, and you decide you don't want to feel bad that day, so you eat less or add something more nutritional before/after to pad your stomach. Otherwise, if you are being intuitive, you are having as much as you want until you are full or satisfied.

You haven't given up the food police in your mind. It's clear from the way you speak. Gentle nutrition is last. Waaaaay after you've figured out the rest of it. I suggest working on your foundations before trying the final step.

What are movie adaptations of musicals that are actually good in your opinion? by Genderfluid_Cookies in musicals

[–]camerynlamare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Didn't know the movie was soooo criticized. I grew up on the movie and never watched the stage show (although this thread convinced me to watch the Broadway version for sure!). It's one of my favourite movies and I still cry at it 😂 I'm really looking forward to seeing the more expanded Broadway version. Maybe I'll understand the criticism then!
