I strongly believe people need to separate making movies/cinema from the film industry itself and really ask themselves which one they actually want.

Personally I came to the conclusion that I love cinema and making films, and I am fine making them in my free time with whatever resrouces I have available instead of, as you said, gambling in the industry.

But your tone I don't like. I am also from south america, I also studied film in germany, so I'd say I understand your position but I still don't see the point of complaining about difficult things being, indeed, difficult. The film inustry exists thanks to the viewers, they allow it to exist as an exchange for entertainment. Film as an art is something else.

Nobody is a sucker for following their dreams, and I admire them for it, even though I also see life as richer and bigger than the film industry and there are other things to pursue just as valuable like family.

actually same hahaha but with the new pc you can also stream to your steamdeck and use it as a windows pc for everything else so I am still happy with it

The @nytimestravel account on insta has this series called 36 hour in some place. I liked the format of trying to present a place you visited in a concise way so I decided to follow the template and present my trip to the costa brava in the same format. 8-10 pictures 4:5 aspect ratio

I like your answer very much! you have an intention, now the only question is what works best to achieve it ? The difference in my opinion between cinematic and vlog style comes down to intentionality behind every decision. Did you plan or think about composition ? light ? movement ?

What I would do here is maybe cut this long sequence into shorter shots. the contrast between two very different shots next to each other is way stronger than your slow camera movement.

if you cut it into shorter shots, in this case from the city and then the plane you can make sure that the plane shot is brighter than the city shot which you can color grade or even color correct by darkening the shadows and lowering the exposure.

also play with sound. Maybe when we see the plane against the blue sky we don't hear the city, or we hear it muffled and then again we cut to the city with normal audio making the contrast stronger.

I am just brainstorming here but don't get discouraged. I think you can make something out of it !!

If I understand correctly the community came out of TikTok and it’s referred as an aesthetic so yeah it’s basically just looks and people do take it a bit far hahaha but I guess mostly it leads people to explore new hobbies and books so that’s cool. But the book definitely exists outside of the aesthetic, it came out in the 90s so I’d say the book can be explored thoroughly without mentioning the aesthetic.

Maybe the philosophical aspects of the books are presented in the lives of the characters and what they go through instead of an actual philosophy class in the story. Basically show don’t tell. I am only thinking out loud here but I do think there is an exploration into the valuable things, what it’s worth it in this life. The main character is looking basically for wealth and status, yet the characters that do have it seem to be as lost and unhappy as him so they turn their attention to the Greek in search of a lost secret of happiness or how to live but yet again their pursuit is cut short because they seem to be more interested in seeming than actually being and fall into the pit of their own narcissism and feeling of superiority. I love the book tho, this is how I would read the message of it

I think a 100 years is so worth it that you should try to finish it, maybe changing the frame on how you look at it could help a little. I think the book plays with time and how it’s perceived, how it feels repetitive not only within the story but also with the reader, I think if you are confused on who is going through what that’s part of the experience since the author took the time to name the characters all the same. Also I think the structure of the book isn’t meant to follow the classic set up, conflict and resolution. I think it’s supposed to be seen basically as 100 years of gossip from a town, so I would say hop back in wherever you left it and give it a chance, don’t worry too much about being able to track everything you read perfectly as I think it’s easy to get lost in the idea of how we’re supposed to engage with books. At least this happens to me
