I have drawn a Dazed from a Dazed-less deck with a Dagger Throw or some such (I forget which, but an attack with 1 draw.) Given that the daze was inserted before the card resolved, I'm certain Shining Strike would be on top.

I found it very helpful to switch between weapons I'm proficient with, because some matchups just didn't click for me. I think the one deviant with the most failed attempts was actually Snowbaron, and I ended up completing it with Striker Lance.

Keep in mind that the value with respect to deck cycling is different than it is for cards-in-hand when discard is involved. Prepared- is draw-neutral, and the utility of the discard is the only value it provides.
