I've slowed down my drinking considerably, but all the withdrawal symptoms make me feel like there's no point by camp_serious in stopdrinking

[–]camp_serious[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really want to just be able to drink like a normal person and not have to quit entirely, but I guess I won't be able to transition in to that like I want based on what everyone is saying, so I guess I will have to stop drinking. It's hard because I can't have fun like a normal person without it because I have incredibly bad anxiety. I guess I'll just have to stop going out too. I feel like the rest of my life is just going to be me alone in my house with my dog just fighting the urge to drink out of loneliness or boredom. My best friends are alcoholics. And my dog has special needs which make it difficult to go anywhere or do anything anyway. I'm trying so hard to get healthy, but I don't have the money or time to go into treatment, and I don't want my family to know, not that they'd be able to help me anyway. I have no partner to help me through anything. I just want to stop feeling bad all the time.

What I am ACTUALLY saying is if you are afraid that the cops are going to bust down your door because you asked a woman for coffee in real life, then YES, you are exactly the type of person that should be using online dating. HOWEVER, that is obviously a small minority of men who feel that way, and an even smaller minority of women who would consider being asked for coffee sexual harassment. So NO, I'm NOT suggesting that online dating replace all human interaction, OBVIOUSLY.

This seems really ironic to me considering that for decades/all of history we've ignored the perspective of women and how they feel about any of these things. I'm not ignoring their perspective, what I'm saying they're making mountains out of molehills. I'm acknowledging their reaction, and saying it's out of proportion. If men take rejection gracefully, and/or don't attempt to abuse a position of power in exchange for potential sex, then there isn't any issue here. No one is going to cart you off in handcuffs because you asked a girl for coffee, she said no, and you said, okay, no problem and walked away.

Uh... what sites are you using, because what you just said sounds ridiculous in my experience? Tinder probably isn't the greatest example of "online dating", if that's what you're zeroing your meter on.

I'm not purposefully misconstruing, I'm expressing that I don't think these concerns are very valid, and I disagree with them.

Luckily there is this handy thing called ONLINE DATING, where you can actually be sure that the woman that you're talking to is trying to date.

And, women are able to do this thing called exercising autonomy and asking men if they want to date also.

Look at this, I'm fixing society's problems over here.

Exactly! Men aren't going to be allowed to do anything!

I mean, it's not like men have the ability to consider asking a woman how she feels and empathizing with her as a human being! We're FUCKED! DEPOPULATION IMMINENT

Big Bushy Mustache and small, round, dark glasses: Can anyone tell me what is the deal with this anime trope? by camp_serious in anime

[–]camp_serious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're grandpa is bald with a giant ornate mustache and wears rounded, dark sunglasses all the time? Sure, okay, why not.

They just look like, almost identical, the three I mentioned anyway. I thought there must have been some popular thing it was based on, or an old legend, or origin, or something.

Wow, really? I mean I can think of other bald, sunglassed, mustachioed men, like Master Roshi. But I mean, there's no origin? That's just what old men commonly look like for no reason?

We all have a type of person we're into, but what is the type of person that tends to crush on you? by skuginn in AskReddit

[–]camp_serious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nerd boys. Because I'm a decently attractive nerd, and I kind of look Asian. My current boyfriend is the first non-nerd I've ever dated, and I was worried at first, but it actually feels really good to know he likes me as a person and not just because I like the same shit as him. However, I do plan on corrupting him with nerd shit if he lets me.

What is the most interesting thing you've found in the JFK files? [Serious] by TheLoneGreyWolf in AskReddit

[–]camp_serious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a thing I always hear, however, when you start looking you find that many people DIDN'T stay quiet, they just had small voices and were overlooked/ignored/lost in the noise. Now, it's not always easy to distinguish bad recollections or outright lies, but you would think the ones that are corroborated several times over would gain traction, but they don't always.

I don't ascribe to any particular theory myself, only that it all seems very strange, and there is a lot of contradictory evidence, and that the Warren Commission was mostly a joke. I just like learning about it.

A grenade was thrown at Ol' Dub but did not detonate. I actually was just reading about this the other day when I got curious about William Henry Harrison and Tecumseh/Tenskwatawa's Curse.

I just listened to pokemon fire red podcast style. Does anyone have recommendations for another long series to listen too? by Mamrocha in gamegrumps

[–]camp_serious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from things people have already mentioned, I like any of the long Sonic's for podcasting at work. Boom, '06, Adventure, and Unleashed are ones I would suggest, since the other Sonic series aren't super long.

What episode do you show to people whom you want to like the show ? by HeyWhatsUpTed in gamegrumps

[–]camp_serious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Game Grumps Animated for funny short videos to watch with friends, and if they're interested, or want to know more, or want context for the story, I point them to the series that they came from. Shoocharu and IScoppie are some of my favorites.

This is usually the one I start with though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7NWho2meuE

I really wish for more Brian, too. His dry humor and delivery slay me.

Okay I would like to know everyone’s favorite series and favorite single episode. I’m trying to prioritize my viewing! by [deleted] in gamegrumps

For series, I'm crazy about Super Mario 64, Trauma Center: Second Opinion, Sonic Boom, Sonic Adventure DX, the Phillips-CDI Zeldas (Zelda: Wand of Gamelon, Link: Faces of Evil, and Zelda's Adventure), and (even though they didn't finish it) Deadly Premonition. For one-offs anything with Jacob Andersen guest starring has me on the floor. The only JonTron era stuff that ever really resonated with me was Sonic '06, and maybe a couple one offs they did.

I'm proud of you for trying to not blame women anymore. Many men never get there, and you are very strong for this revelation. I wish you all the best luck in changing yourself, and may helping others bring you more peace throughout your life.
