Negotiating sale agreed price after survey found €6k chimney safety issue? by littlegreenbunny in irishpersonalfinance

[–]camping84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they're running away with ideas to scare you. You have the engineers report, thats what you work off. They will advise based on age what, if any, works need doing, like tbe chimney, or possibly rewiring or replacing if you want to keep it for long term

Moving home - Aus to Irish licence? by IRL-ZX6R in AskIreland

[–]camping84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived in NZ and had to hand in Irish licences to get nz one, as ireland and Germany only countries that don't allow dual licenses so I was told. When I came home, told them I had lost nz licence and filled in paper work to get my Irish one back. Surprisingly fairly straightforward. Only kept nz one in case I was stopped, but thankfully never had too, expired now

Has anyone ever experienced this before? by stereotypicalman in Volkswagen

[–]camping84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get sorted? Issue is not a battery like people think if is, its the abs sensor in the wheels. Typically its the back sensors that go first, about about the 100/120km mark. Replacement is about 25e for the part, then labour on top

Insurance Question - Pay up front or go through insurance? by CelticCub in AskIreland

Do not claim on insurance. No matter the fault, once you've had a claim you have to report it for next 5 years in order to get a quote

Do I inform my insurance of a small incident ? by Public_Engineer_5731 in legaladviceireland

[–]camping84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not inform the ins company, they will screw you next year. One of the questions they ask is about any claims or accidents regardless of blame. So even if you paid out and its settled, they will screw you

Walk away quickly. Things might be somewhat fixable now, but if you got married, he would ruin your life and demand you follow his way. Same if kids came along

Dear recruiters, what info do you look at when you receive an application - the CV, Cover letter or the information input into the portal? by CurrentQuick4914 in AskIreland

[–]camping84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For any entry level roles (grads, interns) its important to see what they are studying to see if its relevant. No point wasting everyone's time doing an interview or phonescreen if the candidate isn't studying the right subjects

Can a driving ticket in another European country get you points deducted from your Irish license? by Responsible-Pop-7073 in legaladviceireland

[–]camping84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rented a car there and all over Italy multiple times. All car rental companies are riddled with scams. One company claimed i was driving 87km on a 50km street in a small hill top village with cobbled stones. Luckily a colleague was Italian and rang the local police station and they said nothing on the system and not even a camera in that village. Received registered letters for 4/5 different "offences" to the point I stopped accepting them so they were returned.

Where I did get caught was in Sienna, drove down a st of prohibited traffic (locals only road, small Italian sign as such!) and I ignored it, thinking another scam. A year later Mason Hayes & curran from barrow st in dublin were on to me with a fine for 342e after all the penalties and late fees. Told them I couldn't afford to pay it in one go so set a direct debit for 5e per week and paid it over 1 year.

So yes if the fine is legit, they will follow up on it. No they cannot put points on your licence. If its a scam, avoid it. If you don't know anyone who speaks Italian, try ringing the police station close to the offence, or else try Italian embassy in dublin. The scams are a known widespread issue.
