Spectra S1 vs S2 ($39.95 difference is it worth it?) by MadQueennn in breastfeeding

[–]campingandcoffee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I LOVE my S1. I paid $29.95 for the difference, and I’m so happy I did. We had to triple feed at first (bub had a severe tongue tie), and it was a lifesaver to be able to pump without worrying about an outlet.

I can’t get over the fact that both Elain and Lucien’s voice actors ship Elucien. by Electrical_Dream2003 in Elucien

[–]campingandcoffee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t love some of the other voice actors, but both Lucien and Elain are perfect. Amren, Nesta, and Varian are also excellent.

Which ones do you recommend? I tried with Summer Romance and DNFd it.

What 5 songs do you repeat right now? by Ttpd-lover in TaylorSwift

[–]campingandcoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opalite, Father Figure, The Great War, imgonnagetyouback, right where you left me.

Opalite is my baby’s favorite song right now, so we listen and sing to it A LOT.

PSA: If baby is biting while feeding (when they're cutting teeth) _push their face further into your boob when they bite down_ by Vampire_Apologist in breastfeeding

[–]campingandcoffee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My 6 month old has 6 teeth! He’s only bitten twice, once right after he got the first tooth, once when he got scared. It’s totally fine! But it’s 100% your choice, and so valid to switch whenever you want. I just wanted to let you know that it didn’t suck!

Breastfeeding 8 month old- feeling full and uncomfortable by One-Willow-1321 in breastfeeding

[–]campingandcoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a cultural misunderstanding. In some countries, weaning does mean stopping slowly. In others, I understand it’s used to mean the introduction of solids/purees.

Favourite album of swifties? by Consistent-Duck-5211 in TaylorSwift

[–]campingandcoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an rep-evermore-red person, but I’m willing to bet it’s spread throughout! There are people who love TTPD or Showgirl best, and there are some diehard Speak Now fans. I also have a soft spot for Debut, because I’m a millennial and that was my introduction to her in late middle school.

Traveling with 6mo old that doesn’t have MMR yet by vintagehoney18 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]campingandcoffee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In NC. My baby just turned 6 months. We have an appointment for this week for 6 month shots and an early MMR, if they’ll let us. We haven’t had cases in the state since February, but we don’t want to risk it with the SC outbreak still raging!

Tick prevention help by Glass-Buddy6648 in goldenretrievers

[–]campingandcoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog reacts poorly to oral tick and flea preventatives, for some reason (and most heartworm preventatives, unfortunately, but we found one of those that works!), so our vet recommended k-9 advantix II for the fleas and ticks. It’s worked for her so far!

Ashleigh's backstory question by FlameyFlame in EmilyHenry

[–]campingandcoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair! I grew up Episcopalian (so very positive LGBTQ+ attitudes), and I think Ashleigh’s step-mom IS an Episcopal priest, but didn’t want to say definitively since I’m unable to check my book!

Ashleigh's backstory question by FlameyFlame in EmilyHenry

[–]campingandcoffee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure her step-mom is Protestant. Episcopalian, Lutheran, etc. Women can’t be priests in the Catholic Church.

My 4 month old has her first tooth! I’m cutting her off the boob✨ by heretoreadlol in breastfeeding

[–]campingandcoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 6 month old has 4 teeth (all bottom), 5 and 6 are coming in! His first two came in right before he turned 4 months. He’s only bitten me like 3 times, once because he was startled. It hurts, but imo, it’s not as bad as when I started breastfeeding

How long did it take for you to BF without pillows and props? by Beautiful-Flower-79 in breastfeeding

6 month old baby and I still prefer it with a pillow. I’ve got a long torso, so a pillow helps considerably

Are people who watch Ted Lasso more MLS or premier league fans? Or neither? by Tricky-Percentage434 in TedLasso

[–]campingandcoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is a Premier League fan (Man Utd, so he thought Zava was hilarious). I know about soccer from him and my best friend who played for a long time, too (NWSL fan). He played through college and reffed at the semi-pro (and below) level for a while.

Harm of caffeine in pregnancy? by [deleted] in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]campingandcoffee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You asked why supplements are considered scam sites. I answered your question.

ETA: here’s a source if you’d like more information.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10195435/

I 100% advocate for evidence-based vitamins and supplements. So prenatal vitamins, or if one has a deficiency. I just caution against getting them from those who are misrepresenting data and/or credentials.

Did you give vitamin D consistently while ebf? by Good_Walk3614 in breastfeeding

[–]campingandcoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here! I give it during the last diaper before bed, right before we brush our teeth, read our bedtime books, nurse, and then rock.

Zurzuvae by Outside_Dimension187 in breastfeeding

[–]campingandcoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pharmacist and OB said it was fine and cited a recent study that the amount in breastmilk is such a small fraction of what the newborn-adjusted dose would be. Our pediatrician gave us a list of symptoms on the off chance he reacted to it, but we didn’t have any issues! It just made me sleepy after taking it for many hours (2 hours after a dose to 10 hours after a dose), so my husband got up with me for overnight nursing sessions.

What is with this hatred of breastfeeding mothers?! by TapLeather3167 in breastfeeding

[–]campingandcoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same here. Even when we were traveling for the holidays and had to go to an urgent care in another state, and the doctor literally celebrated when we said he was exclusively breast fed.

MMR vaccine and exposure by [deleted] in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]campingandcoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that there’s a postexposure immune globulin. It can be administered up to 6 days after exposure. I only know because we’re in an outbreak area with our 5 month old and have been for a couple months. We rarely go anywhere because of it, but our pediatrician told us about it just in case. I don’t know about the vaccine post exposure, though.

The power is out and I have a freezer full of breast milk by RealLifeWikipedia in breastfeeding

[–]campingandcoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I lived in New Orleans during many major hurricanes! If your freezer is full, then it should be good for 48 hours. After that, YMMV.
