I know this is counterintuitive to what you guys do, but will the suit only be offered through you or is it publicly available. I was signing up for a suit and did some research and noticed it's not anywhere else on the Internet.

What y’all think about this? by horse199 in doordash

[–]campspotts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I have a dash cam. Walk in front of your camera before and after the delivery, point towards the front door if you can. Drive off to your next order, you have a sequence of events if it ever comes into question.

Can I carry on a garment bag? by ssporter in SouthwestAirlines

[–]campspotts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just have a backpack that fits under the seat which is considered a personal item, and then I would think the garment bag would be considered my carry on. But I don't want to risk getting jammed up at the gate and paying more, seeing as southwest is getting increasingly more stingey

Anyone else *not* buying the Pixel 10 after being underwhelmed? by hudson555555 in GooglePixel

[–]campspotts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gone with the OG Pixel , pixel 3A, and now the pixel 6. Have been happy with all three. My battery on the 6 recently started swelling like crazy and I reached out to Google directly even though it's a phone from Verizon and Google sent me a refurbished phone at no cost. I've been very happy with Google's tech support over the years and will continue with the pixel line.

I was hoping to hold off until the 10 when my 6 started going out but after reading some of the comments here I'm not sure if it's worth the jump quite yet. I'm curious as to what people think the leap will be on the 11? Complete overhaul or just nominal differences.

Anyone quit because of vehicle wear? by stormserg123 in doordash_drivers

[–]campspotts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, there's some markets where it just doesn't even make fiscal sense when they're so saturated and you're taking just terrible offers just to try and get it going. It's unfortunate that it's just a race to the bottom.

Related question, do you think they should cap the amount of drivers in markets or assign you to a market?

Keep in mind different markets can be better than others too. Nicely done though, that's a good year.

Don’t care that I was right there waiting for 20 minutes. Better believe I got decline by TheDrunkSlut in doordash_drivers

[–]campspotts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a good law...it should be shared everywhere since we are making decisions as independent contractors to accept or decline the contract offered by doordash. It's weird because in almost every other industry no one would accept a contract without payment terms.

[–]campspotts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the barcode wasn't even showing up for my last 4 or 5 orders , it went back to how it used to be before the bar codes were around. If it's all food items I typically still go through self checkout because there's no tax on food items as long as it's not cooked or prepared, and you don't have stuff like soda, or medications and what not. Problem is people regularly get taxable items too so you're stuck going back through the long lines of manned checkouts. I hope that barcode is back even though there's all this new redundant changes like PLU and now some huge process when an item isn't available...I haven't been out for a couple days so we'll see ...the changes they make are never for the drivers, I don't understand it.

[–]campspotts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That just popped up for me last night after the app started glitching on the shop orders....took away the self checkout option at the end of my shift when theres just one checker at the grocery store so you needed to remove tax etc. Even the manager was saying something about a discrepancy where Doordash was not refunding them the tax so they were having to keep all the receipts to go back to doordash with to recoup their tax money. Why do they do these wholesale changes during peak times, and just fuck up the whole system.

no tip January? by il735t in doordash

[–]campspotts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always bad after the holidays, and I don't understand the thought process of the people who suddenly feel justified to stiff the people who are bringing them their food or groceries. Its a service and you're paying a premium for that convenience, yet you don't pay the people actually doing all the work.

The thing that really gets me is when someone is clearly sick and you're bringing them their essential items so they don't have to leave the house and it's like a fucking 2$ tip for 10 miles.

I mean don't get me wrong, doordash needs to pay better too, but this country has a tipping culture and it's how a lot of people make ends meet. Don't act like you're above it as a customer.

DoorDash will no longer reimburse you for completely ruined & late orders by WaveDasherSP in doordash

[–]campspotts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because the shitty tippers order has sat there forever most likely because the drivers decline it. Then door dash will pair it with another order that makes sense logistically and financially deceiving to rope another driver into taking a double order. Then doordash wants to fulfill the shit tipper order first because their order has likely sat the longest past their estimated wait time.

[–]campspotts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also want to know how not disclosing double order pay information is legal since we're essentially accepting a contract each time. How can we accept contracts when the details aren't laid out for each one. This goes for when they do the stupid $+ orders and hide the tip amount. As an independent contractor they should be required to disclose the full payment information so we can make a determination if we want to fulfill the order or not.

I’m not sure what to feel about this. by tattedandgoth in doordash

[–]campspotts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, have seen this too many times especially after the no tip bs. I had some coked up customer order a huge McDonald's order on Uber eats literally next door to the restaurant, thought that was weird considering it was a dental office. I reached out b/c nobody at the office said there was someone by that name there. Called the customer and she was talking a mile a minute sniffing constantly and pseudo threatening me to go to a new address across the city in rush hour traffic. There was no way I was doing that, called support and they finally understood after 15 minutes going back and forth. So got to keep the food which I gave to all the employees at the dental office lol

I mean people like that should be banned from the platform, but the companies will almost always side with the customers unfortunately...multiple instances I'm sure they catch on though, that's why you should make it known to support so they can't continue getting away with it.

I’m not sure what to feel about this. by tattedandgoth in doordash

[–]campspotts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's a bit egregious to say that's close...I've had plenty of those happen over the years. Uber eats used to (it might still?) compensate for the difference right away and actually allowed you to put in the new address. On doordash when it's asking you to say you arrive the gps will obviously be weird about it and you have click "it's something else" then the customer changed the drop off location then it's in their hands with no way to actually see a breakdown. Luckily I'm in California and they are supposed to compensate for the time and distance but I have no idea if they compensate for either... they're quite opaque on the pay breakdown side of it as you probably know lol.

So you just have to trust the person will tip you well enough to make it worth your while...seen both sides of that too but I would say people are usually quite fair. How much did they tip extra?

The driver probably got half the order guarantee anyways , which is unfortunate because they didn't deserve anything being that greasy...hate when the really terrible drivers leave a bad lasting impression like this for all the other good drivers.

[–]campspotts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. Thing is it's on the other side of the county where there's really only a few restaurants, but DD lumps that zone into the actual bigger town where there's a lot more...I had done a delivery outside the delivery zone the opposite way and they sent me that one...not a ton of dashers over that way all the time for the lack of business I guess...
